The Elk's Head in Northumberland

Recently under new management , lovely pub in beautiful surroundings ! We had a fabulous meal . A little on the pricey side , but well worth it ..👍👍

Under new management and the food is absolutely brilliant. Seasonal food cooked to the highest standard (scallop with coral sauce, smoked venison loin, house cured trout etc etc). If this is what they can do a few weeks then The Elk's Head is destined for special things.....

We did a very last minute booking with the Elk's Head and I have to say they not have been more accommodating. They have only recently taken over the lease of this pub and I wish them every success. I am sure with the amount of thought and work they are putting in to the pub you would have a lovely time if you stayed. We also took our dog and they were very welcoming.

What a lovely setting to have lunch. Fantastic food and really nice staff. The Elks Head has just made it onto "my go to places" list. Thanks to all for a throughly enjoyable lunch.

A beautiful area , alpine feeling in Northumberland. !Great hotel, nice hot bath and views of the river Allen and surrounding hills from the window.Outstanding staff, with ale advice ,local history advice and good sense of humour.Careful with the wolf ale,as it's stronger than it tastes.Evening meals are generous portions and the breakfast menu offers vegetarian and vegan choices which were fine with us.- the only nag was the slightly undercooked poached eggs.Rooms warm and bed comfy. Slept very well.A quiet , wild and remote location,in England let alone the UK that should be experienced.The hotel and pub should invest in a squeaking name sign ,at the front, which would add to the atmosphere.Visit the nearby large church as it's very interesting.

Impromptu stop off on our way through and so glad we did! What a lovely little friendly pub! The staff were so friendly and the lunch was perfect👌 we will be back to stay as the rooms look lovely!

A lovely cosy country pub with a great selection of ales and wine 🍷. Makes a great coffee ☕ as well. It's in a lovely area. Nice one Cheers..

Stayed here for 2nights, bit of confusion over rooms to start with (booked with booking .com and not put in the book)but soon sorted. we were in room 9 with was small river view out the bathroom. Food was good and reasonable priced all staff were pleasant and attentive and pub had a nice friendly feel and allowed dogs in. Overall good stay I personally would of liked a soft chair in the bedroom.We had our dog with us who loved his sausage in the morning.
