Food was cooked perfectly, the venison and beef burger was absolutely amazing. Staff were friendly and helpful

The Feathers has long been an old favourite, though due to circumstance we hadn't managed a visit since pre-Covid. The culinary quiz night seemed the perfect excuse to put that right but boy, did it remind me what I'd been missing! The food was every bit as good as it ever was, and the rabbit pie main course, served 'family style' for the table, was exceptional. An evening to remember for sure. And I promise we won't leave it so long till our next visit!

Sunday lunch, 5 of us, every plate potatoes undercooked, inedible. No Yorkshire pudding with the pork? Not enough gravy, red cabbage still had tough stalks, horrible indigestion later in the day. Would not recommend, food should never have come out of the kitchen, oh and those who did get a Yorkshire said they were dry and tasteless, must have been hanging around for a while.

Great food and a treat to find Château Musar on the wine list.

We went here and thought it was beautiful, our food was to die for. The taste justified the higher costs of around £30pp. My one criticism was the tables were too close together, everyone felt on top of each other which wasn't covid friendly. Almost like profit over safety. Also the servers could have been more friendly and welcoming. They needed that friendly small talk to be put the customer at ease, but instead it sounded a bit awkward, nervous and uncomfortable to interact with myself and fellow diners. I will be back 😁

Visited for Sunday dinner. Enjoyed roast beef and all the trimmings, a portion of Christmas pudding plus a couple of pints of draft beer.

Absolutely wonderful food. Somehow familiar and comforting while also being original and different. I will be back here again.

Small menu ( 5 mains available but changed frequently ) plus starters and desserts. We had the shoulder of lamb with roast potatoes and veg. Very tasty but one portion had a lot of fat. Nice for a change but won't be a regular haunt.

Bit of a let down...Been wanting to go here for years, after hearing so many rave reviews.Set in Hedley this gastro pub promises local, seasonal food simply cooked.We arrived and we sat in a back room away from the main bar area. It was a bit stuffy but quiet. After some time a casually dressed waitress came and took our drinks order. They have an excellent selection of local ales and craft beers and largers.The menu was rather limited with about 5 choices for each course. I opted for the charcuterie of local meats to share. It composed of guinea fowl terrine, wild boar salami, chicken liver pate, roe deer, sourdough bread and celeriac remulade. It was delicious and a generous portion.I wasn’t too impressed by the mains but decided on falafel with cous cous and hummus. This was a complete let down: bland cous cous and hummus that resembled peas pudding.My partner had the venison Wellington which looked delicious, with home made flaky pastry new potatoes and veg.We would have opted for desserts (which did sound much more exciting) but we were totally stuffed.All in all we felt underwhelmed. The service was far too casual and the place lacked atmosphere (candles and soft music would have helped). The back room was stuffy. The menu just didn’t do it for me and for what it was, it was very pricy at £57 for 1 starter, two mains and drinks.Interestingly it used to be in the Michelin Guide, however the last review was 2015 and it’s probably easy to see why.With some tweaks, this place could have a wow factor and I might give it another go in the future but for now it’s more a place to stop off for light lunch and a nice pint, than a gastronomic experience.

Amazing food. Wonderful pub. Great staff. My Mrs and I loved the food in this place. We can't say enough good things about The Feathers. Others seem to think its pricey, but it's very reasonable if you are coming from London/southeast, and is as good if not better that a lot of places in London.
