Very old and tired hotel that is in desperate need of an upgrade. The staff are friendly, but generally aren't that on the ball. Food is incredibly mediocre and definitely not worth the money, my 'Gammon Steak' main was considered Roast of the Day and ended up being a single rather of thick cut bacon. I would never recommend eating here.Room is okay, spacious, but old and tired.I would eat at the Crown Pub if you have to stay in this area, if you don't, don't stay here, for the money there are many alternatives at far better value for money.

Just spent an enjoyable afternoon out at our Bridge afternoon at The George Hotel, Chollerford . Very pleased to see the hotel newly refurbished. Food really good. Welcoming staff. Wonderful surroundings. Ample car parking.

We had a great room, recently modernised. Our dog was able to enjoy the beautiful garden and there is a gym/ swimming pool also. The breakfast had an extensive choice. Good value for money. The staff, both at reception and at breakfast were very attentive and friendly.Very dog friendly. Great location for Hadrian's Wall.

there is no doubting this place needs a major overhaul it was like stepping back 30 years in time. We got a fantastic deal and therefore it is hard to grumble too much.I will not mention the negatives as there were too many. However the health suite was ok, the food was great, the rooms were clean and the staff were very friendly, especially Isabel and her partner- lovely people

We found everyone very friendly and the room lovely. Read the other reviews - the hotel is a bit dated and tired in places. The room was lovely if a little cold to start. The food was good and hearty. We found the staff friendly and helpful. It’s a lovely position by the river but some rooms are road facing with associated noise. We enjoyed chilling out on the armchairs by the fire in the bar and they let us put whatever we wanted on the TV. It’s a good hotel where we had a fabulous stay.

Yes the place is not newly built ...but it is full with helpful staff and in a stunning location!.The rooms were spotless and more than adequate for what I expected. The breakfast was qreat.and plentiful and you young girl always on duty was always helpful and very pleasant. The night reception gentleman was very helpful and the cost of staying here is in my opinion too cheap .I did not use the sports area or pool but for the staff, location and rooms alone I would happily return here with my family. Thanks to you all .

Lovely hotel. A bit dated but clean. Our room was perfect - clean and modern with all of the facilities that we would want. The leisure facilities were great and the staff were super friendly and helpful, but the whole experience was badly let down by the abysmal service. I should have known that it wasn't going to be great when we ordered some basis sandwiches shortly after our arrival. We were the only people in the bar, yet the sandwiches still took 25 minutes to come. For the evening meal (which was of good quality) we sat in excess of an hour. We didn't even get our breakfast at all.We arrived on time and were shown to our table. We were given coffee and tea, then - nothing. We went to help ourselves to the continental part of the breakfast but, apart from cereals, there was nothing except stale and dry croissants and cakes and NO butter. There was no toast machine or even the offer of any toast while we were waiting for our order to be taken. When we asked for some butter, it took ten minutes to arrive and that was after having to ask for a second time - and even then, it was only ONE of those small square packets. We also noticed that the people around us had no food and appeared to be twiddling their thumbs and quietly mumbling to themselves. The couple next ro us had ordered their food shortly after we arrived and still had nothing after 30 minutes. After about 35 minutes, our order still hadn't even been taken and we figured that even if we could get it taken, it was going to be another long wait before any food came, so we left. I know that COVID may be used as an excuse, but looking back at previous reviews, the appalling service seems to be a common theme dating back to before the current staff shortages. If this is the best that they can do, they shouldn't be taking people's money and should either close or offer a room and a bar only.

Amazing hotel to stay, staff was very helpful and the service was amazing. The room was lovely with such an amazing view, looking out to the bridge and river. Will definitely visit again. Thank you for making our stay special. A very big special thanks to John who went out his way to post my chain that was left behind at the hotel (we were very stressed about it) and John was extremely helpful and kind and even wrapped my chain to ensure it arrived safely. We will be ever so grateful to him - thank you very much John for your kind service and help.Jo & Anjali

Stayed here with my dog. Staff extremely friendly helpful and attentive. Talking to the couple next to me at breakfast and the gentleman had a gluten allergy. The waitress came over informed him there was gluten free bread and asked if he wanted toast both mornings and did it in a separate toaster. Rooms were very clean. Brilliant facilities with a pool and jacuzzi
