We were at The Joiner's Arm last night and were disappointed. Service was slow, they were busy but equally there were a lot of staff and many doing the old trick of avoiding eye contact to enable us to order drinks etc. The menu has a lot of beef and a lot of fish with 1 chicken, 1 pork and a couple of veggie/vegan options.Portion control is evident. Best part of ÂŁ15 for a burger, no salad and a poxy basket of chips all served on a huge plate to make the portion control blazingly obvious. Steak and fries is literally a steak and aforementioned basket of chips which were overcooked and no veg at all, no peas, no tomato, no mushroom as most might expect. The crab salad had a lovely fresh crab but new potatoes were only just cooked as still a little firm. A very depressing salad of bloody awful frisee lettuce came with it and not the fresh little gem lettuce mentioned on the menu. The coley catch of the day was average. The puddings were dull and the view of our 3 boys on the sticky toffee pudding was it was OK. Overall we spent ÂŁ150 for a meal that has put us off The Joiner's altogether. We've eaten here many times before and felt it was good value but not this time.In a time when everyone is watching what they spend, customers need to feel like they are getting choice, quality and good value and it felt like all of these were missing. I'm really sorry to say it but think twice before you book here.

Would've been 3 stars as booked a table for Monday night at 8pm but having chosen from the menu the lovely table staff said it wasn't available. So chose something else and then they came back to say that wasn't available either. Basically there was no fish meals available but thankfully they rescued the situation by offering crab stotties which are normally available 12-4. Not sure about returning. We'll see.

Decided to go for dinner last minute, nice atmosphere, menu looked OK, ordered steak pie and fish and chips. Pie tasty bit small, mushy peas out of a tin, and rock hard chips (not many). Small portion of fish, mushy peas and rock hard chips. Thought a ' gastro pub' could do some better veg & chips. Quite disappointed & quite expensive. Don't think we will be rushing back!

Lovely pub with a nice outdoor seating area and lots of indoor dining space. Nice menu but could have done with a few more vegetables. Apart from that good the food was delicious and served by friendly, polite staff. They are also dog friendly and dogs are welcome inside.

It was OK. Two of the things I ordered were not available, which was disappointing. Main course root vegetable salad had too few ingredients and so felt more like a side dish that should be served with something more interesting. Staff were pleasant enough but lost interest in serving us about halfway. We struggled to get anyones attention to order or pay the bill. Nice pub but I wouldn't rush back.

Stopped for lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food here. Presentation and service were also high quality. Menu was varied, with 'twists' making it difficult to choose. If we were staying in this area we would be back! Dogs made very welcome.

This made for a fantastic first day of our holiday and really set the bar. Food was phenomenal, drinks were great and service was incredibly friendly. The pub restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a really nice vibe. Well placed for a lovely walk on to Low Newton by the Sea

I have had a fabulous stay in the Joiners Arms. All the staff were very polite ,friendly and helpful. The young man who checked me in to Sennen Cove room, listened to my request of the heating being turned down. What a fabulous room . The bath is positioned so you have a lovely view out of the French windows. Amazing. The bed was so comfy, everything lovely and clean.I loved it thank you.

We stayed in the Tweed Suite and it was amazing, chilled and private with the hot tub which was great. Bar staff who greet you were top drawer and the atmosphere around the place is really good. Couldn’t recommend an overnight stay enough but if you can eat away from the place.Food however wasn’t great at all, had we the chance to score them differently they would have got a two. We sent the tempura squid back as it was terrible might as well be served raw squid (still charged and would not remove from bill), burger bog standard and chips were hard. Not a great day for the chefs and the lass and lad serving us in the restaurant as we could also see them vaping laughing and joking about the returned food in the kitchen so sort of annoyed us.

Dined here for my sister’s birthday after a long and lovely walk around the local beach. The pub has a lovely rustic feel about it, and it more than happy to allow dogs to join you at the table (providing they are well behaved of course). The food was… immense! So don’t expect to leave hungry.
