Dropped in for lunch. Arrived quite early, just as well because very popular. Friendly efficient staff. Nice food. Well kept beer. Has both indoor and outdoor seating. Car park for about a dozen cars.

Staff were friendly. Drinks were good. Had a ribeye steak at ÂŁ29.95. Steak was small, mostly fat and the chips were terrible as was the sauce. Decided just to have one course and will not return in a hurry. Gone down hill since we were last there.

great place, we booked a 4 day mini break around visiting this pub and we weren't disappointed. the conchiglie and the sirloin of beef we had was excellent with the veg being cooked to perfection. i even ate the cabbage which i rarely do. the beer was also very good (a pint called ratty, if you believe that) if had to be picky i'd say it was expensive but to be honest i expected that, look at ÂŁ20 per meal but well worth it.

Understated excellence - not enough stars in the universe - my kind of place.I’m not sure what I can say that hasn’t already been said having read some other reviews.Traditional pub, there aren’t enough of these anymore, I felt at home at once, the pub even smelt welcoming.Welcoming staff, I felt like a regular even though this was my first visit.Great choice of beer, my first choice wasn’t available as the barrel hadn’t settled, which tells me that if it isn’t right, it won’t be served.I assume the menu changes regularly, of the dishes I tried:Cured meat and cheese platter, generous amounts of everything and superb bread. The slow cooked belly pork was perfection. The dessert, chocolate and walnut cake accompanied by Coffee Chantilly was glorious. It probably won’t be the cheapest pub meal you’ll buy, but if you appreciate all that I have mentioned, you won’t mind, and like me you’ll be looking for reasons to return.

Called in at lunch time, menu i have no idea what kind of food they are trying to serve. We ended off with sandwiches, 2 slices of bread and a bit of rocket on the plate, chips extra. Not much choice and menu very expensive. Drinks over priced too. Nearly ÂŁ30 for 2 sandwiches, 1 portion of chips and 2 cokes. Definitely won't be back. What I saw of other peoples orders portions are very small.

Good location overlooking the Tyne Valley. Dined I the small Conservatory. Would be nice in Summer sitting outside for the views. Lunch time Menu bit pricey but quality good. Ambience okay for Lunch time, staff attentive and pleasant. Will certainly go back.

Absolutely fabulous traditional pub, about 2 miles from Hexham. Great menu from sandwiches ( lunch only) to sharing platters to sharing hunks of beef. All locally sourced. Really lovely staff We'll be back please !

Had a great lunch date with my wife yesterday. The rump steak was cooked to perfection and the Rat Sauce was amazing. My wife had the braised steak and mash and thoroughly enjoyed it whilst having fantastic view. Was our 1st ever visit but definitely won't be our last!!!

A lovely visit on a beautiful day. Sat in the garden with my dog after a warm welcome from the staff. What a treat to have a cold pint of cider on the sunny 1st of June! Food was very good. Potted shrimps followed by fabulous Confit Duck which was 'French good'! Would definitely recommend. This type of country pub is one of Britain's greatest treasures.

Lovely pub in a quiet location. Had a 3 course evening meal there during COVID restrictions and other than the usual distancing the staff made you feel welcome like a great pub should. Food was freshbl and locally sourced and the menu changes daily...will be making the trip back again.
