Lovely warm welcome and the food was very good. Enjoyed our dinner and drinks. Highly recommend. The pate and soup were highly recommended and steaks cooked as asked for and were tasty. Fish dish was also nice and tasty.

Fab food and staff made us very welcome. A lovely country pub with fires. Locals are friendly. Amazing area to walk about and not far from the river Tyne. 👌

Consistency of a great chef is the key. It’s a banker.

Fabulous stay at this B&B/Pub/Restaurant. Only 10mins by car from Hexham and this small village is full of history. The owners Sue and Andy go out on a limb to help and make sure your stay is very welcoming. The rooms and little extras are some of the best we have stayed in, better than a 4* hotel and the food (especially Breakfast) was exceptional. The Bar area and locals also made our stay a great experience. We took a very elderly relative with us and the owners looked after him as though he was one of their own. Thank you Sue and Andy for a lovely weekend. We will be back.

Good clean rooms, friendly staff and clientele. We spent a lovely afternoon and evening here, the food was also excellent and reasonably priced.

Bar surprisingly busy with good atmosphere, friendly staff, food was delicious. Room had a bit of a funny smell like strong cheese, other than that was a nice stay.

Service was excellent. Food very good and well priced. The staff were friendly and happy to assist. Definitely worth a visit if you're staying/visiting in the area.

We stayed for 1 night, was ideally place for exploring Hadrians wall. The staff were polite, friendly and very attentive. From someone who's not easily pleased when it come to food, the food here was amazing!!!! We will definitely stay here again.

Loved it. Stayed overnight, excellent accommodation and breakfast. Dinner was spot on, especially steak and ale pie best I've ever had. Staff are outstanding, attentive, alert and pleasant to deal with. Would give more stars if I could;)

A two night stay, a birthday gift from last year, moved 4 times because of Covid restrictions. We were made very welcome, our room was accessed through a separate entrance from the pub. A very pleasant room overlooking the front of the pub with a good view. We ate dinner there both nights and the food was very, very good. The pan-fried chalk stream trout was glorious. My travelling companion had the steak and ale pie which he stated was 'the most luxurious pie' he had ever had. The pub is very close to Hadrian's wall and there are plenty of things to see and do in the area
