Excellent staff, nice food, lovely rooms. What more could you ask for after a days hike.

Stopped for a break while walking Hadrian’s wall. Had tea and a fruit scone with cream and jam, would highly recommend. Very kind staff.

Lovely meal. Steak was amazing as was the rest of our meal. Friendly staff.

First popped in here July 2007, its changed a lot since then. Good selection of beers. Enjoyed a hot pork sandwich, with a side portion of home made chips. Good value for money and worth another visit. Staff very welcoming.

Warm welcome and delicious food. Good selection of veggie options. Local brewed ales on tap, a particular favourite of my OH is the Rivercatcher.

Lovely food in a nice cozy setting, friendly staff and good service. Reccomend the steak and ale pie "a proper pie" 👌

Me and wifey went there together whilst the kids were away.it was so nice to have some peace and quiet together.the food was impeccable and I don't know why but there coca cola tasted like nothing I'd tasted before.

Yummy home cooked food, we love this pub after son plays golf at Matfen. Family friendly, always pretty busy because it’s really good!

Food was fantastic all round. Superb service, very warm and friendly service. Cosy little pub/ restaurant. Well worth a visit. Ideal if your out walking and need some nice food and a drink. Great it's back open.

Very friendly and professional. The food is tasty and very well cooked. There is a good selection of dishes and the desserts/puddings are terrific too. Definitely worth visiting to try it out!
