Went into Hexham town centre on Monday to meet our daughter and called into this lovely cafe next to the Market Square. Our daughter is vegan and it has a separate menu for vegan's here. It also has cream for coffee which is not always available and pleased me no end.My wife and daughter had crumpets and I had a lovely spiced fruit scone. I had my scone warmed in an oven; not by micro wave, which I detest, another plus point. The staff were lovely and the cakes looked great although we didn't try them this time.

No trip to visit my parents is complete without a visit to this fabulous cafe! It's one of the first things my children ask when I say we are going to Granny and Grandpa's, "Can we go to The Small World Cafe?!". Lovely atmosphere, delicious fresh food and what a delight to be able to eat some delicious sweet treats as someone who is dairy and gluten free and usually has to go without. Highly recommended!

This cafe advertised itself as “everything’s homemade” Go here if you want flat and dry Yorkshire pudding with overcooked frozen vegetables, the cauliflower was particularly sodden with water. Boil in the bag “roast” beef with tasteless gravy. It doesn’t get any worse than this. Was totally disappointed as I took my elderly mum there for a treat. When the waitperson asked if everything was ok, as my plate was 85% still full , I responded , no, it’s completely tasteless. She replied “ oh” and that was the end of that . Looking around the cafe everyone else was eating scones only. Maybe they knew something I didn’t. My mums cheese toastie looked ok. Had to ask twice for salt and pepper. Totally depressing experience on a cold day. The pies in the cabinet looked good but did not get offered an alternate meal choice nor was the uneaten the giant Yorkshire pudding taken off the bill. Poor customer service along with poor quality food. Hopefully for the owners this was just an off day.

I visited today with a big group of fellow mums and babies. There were about ten of us with lots of prams- despite this, the staff could not have been more accommodating and welcoming. Between us there are lots of different dietary requirements yet everyone seemed to have a great choice of meals and cakes. Some places make mums and babies feel like a hindrance- this couldn’t have been further from the case at Small World. Thank you!

I visited this cafe this morning as I am on a short visit to Hexham. The staff are very welcoming. I had the breakfast and it was delicious. Beautifully served. The tomato and onions were divine and beans in a pot just incase you don't like them touching your food! The latte was also very nice. I tend to visit local cafes when away as I prefer them to the big names and this cafe certainly gives them a run for the money. Very reasonable. Next time I am in Hexham will visit again.

Excellent food, really friendly staff. Pro tip: if you're on your own, as I was, and you want to sit outside, as I did, mention it to the staff and they will do their best to stop your table being snaffled by the next people who wander by. It's by no means a guarantee, but it helps relieve some of that single traveller anxiety!
