The Wellwood in Northumberland

Very busy on a weekend, but food delicious Sunday carvery is excellent, weekday menu, although no Carvery when we visited, there was plenty of other dishes to choose from

Stayed here as a last minute decision last night, me and the partner regret not knowing this existed sooner, definitely a hidden gem we will be recommending to others, the lady had an immaculate room prepared for us in 45 minutes, decided to try the food, absolutely top notch and perfectly priced for portion and quality, breakfast is included in the room, had a perfect eggs Benedict, we'll definitely be back again

After an 18 mile walk, I was in need of a home cooked steak and ale pie...the Wellwood promised me this... What a disappointment 😒 a small steak (no ale) pasty with so much thick pastry hiding the 3 pieces of steak in gravy... Microwaved mash was a bit like wall paper paste served with a hefty £13 price tag... but the staff are friendly and helpful. There are so many places in Amble serving quality fresh food so my advice would be to try somewhere else!

Had lovely carvery and others had off the burger menu also desserts very nice could not fault anything staff very helpful and cheerful will definitely be back

Hotel room is clean however it is very small and has very poor lighting. I would not say that it is value for money. Nor would recommend it for disabled patrons there are very steep steps up to the room. Our view was over the bins.The bar is friendly and has a wide variety of drinks however the food is appalling and over priced. Pie and a square of mash both cold! My favourite pudding is sticky toffee pudding and based on the previous courses I expected reheated fair so I thought I’d be safe ordering this. How wrong was I. I’ve never eaten cold sticky toffee pudding ( it’s not recommended unless your pallet runs to a claggy sweet lump)I would not recommend this place, there is better out there for the money

Wow. Food was amazing, couldn't believe the size of the fish, it was a whale! Lovely vegan burger, so tasty! Highly recommend this place.

Nice little pub nice staff they let me use thier toilets even though I didn't buy anything that day. Just normal humans who care about thier customers and its nice and clean even the toilets are lovley and clean. The alcohol is also reasonably priced its worth a visit.

The second time I've been here. The first time the food was good, this time was a different experience. 6 of us had food today ordered at 4pm and everything was overdone. The batter on both fish was hard so couldn't really get to the fishThe fries had no potato in them just 'fries'. The onion rings were again too hard with batter, couldn't taste the onion plus both burgers were overcooked, very dry and cheese dry. Informed staff who agreed. Not really good enough when spending an average of £11 on each of the 6 main meals. Also found the staff not to be very welcoming. We initially sat in the restaurant only to be told you can't sit there, moved about as not very clear on where we could and could not sit. I won't be going again as wasted my money 11/9/21

Booked in for a 7pm table to find when we got there they stopped doing food at 7pm, could not choose from the menu could only have carvery which was terrible, 3 of the 4 meats on offer were the end pieces and very dry and there was little or no roast potatoes.
