China Cook Chinese Takeaway in South Tyneside

Just received our meal after waiting 1hr 15 minutes stone cold! I'm not one to complain but meal was tasteless and every thing had a peculiar taste! Prawns were over cooked and chicken very dry. The whole meal was just awful! So disappointed with the meal. £22 of my hard earned cash went in the bin. So disappointed is an understatement!

Food arrived quicker than expected but wish it took longer as maybe the chips would have been cooked when they arrived. Ordered two different dishes, both tasted the same, chicken was chunky, hard and dry, beef was chewy and full of fat. Best thing was noodles which you can't really get wrong and prawn crackers. Salt n pepper chips were terrible, still hard in the middle and weren't really salt n pepper, more so Chinese powder from morrisons with pepper and onion. Won't be going back here, sticking with sunny house!

Ordered for the first time tonight and im absolutley devistated i always go to cina cook on canterberry street which is amazing this was cold chicken was hard n dry basically threw it in the bin never tasted nothing like the noodles will not be returning spent £22.00 to go in the bin i wouldnt even feed it to my dog

Had ordered a delivery at 19:20pm, it was subsequently delivered to the wrong address and over 3 hours later and we haven't received any food, will only be picking food for collection from now on. No more delivery, disappointed with the service as they have been reliable in the past but not today.

What an absolute joke of a Chinese takeaway I ordered a takeaway at 6.40 pm was told it could be up to 2 hours wait which wasn't a problem after it not arriving by 9.00 I called back to be told it's just leaving now it'll be 30 mins at 9.45 it still hadn't arrived so I tried to call the shop but it was constantly engaged I then drove to the shop for a refund as I paid over the phone,when I got there at 10.00 I was then told it was just being cooked there and then.The Chinese girl behind the counter totally lied saying they were overwhelmed with orders and everyone who had ordered after my initial order still hadn't got there food as yet and I was next in line I demanded my money back after a heated discussion they eventually refunded me,now it gets better I got home at 10.30 then 2 minutes later a delivery driver arrived with the food but then wouldn't leave it because I'd been in to complain.Absolute joke I would never use this shop again

Always really lovely food, delicious, hot and quick delivery. Top marks from me mainly because it is very high quality food, everything always cooked perfectly, beef soft and tender, chicken succulent and not compacted chicken bits, it's real chicken breast, and my personal favourite, huge juicy prawns and not tiny bits of shrimp.

China Cook is a lovely little takeaway, reasonably priced and in a good area. Always busy without appearing busy!Ive had a few different things from their, Chicken Satay, Crispy Duck, Beef in Black Bean Sauce, House Special etc all been really good and full of flavour.Only less than brilliant thing I've had was the Chicken Katsu - which basically a pre-packed meal or that is how it appears. Still very tasty!

Food was well priced and portion sizes were massive!I found my chow mein a bit too salty for my taste, but the rest of my family enjoyed their meals.Would use this again when I visit next and maybe choose another item off the menu to try.Staff were really friendly. The food took a good amount of time to cook not too long but not rushed and we had free prawn crackers with our food.

Delicious food. Would've gave a 5star but they recently put a minimum of £8 for delivery. When you're a single person you can't order all that food so can't order from there anymore as my regular food doesn't amount to that price. In shop lovely staff and owners. Definitely recommend for the food!!

Always ordered from here in the past as it was always gorgeous but for the last few months I’ve been disappointed, chips are not cooked and are still hard chicken is always hard and chewy and nothing seems to have any taste! Most of it is just inedible! Honestly if you want a good Chinese I’d go to Ocean Pearl at harton nook always spot on from there.
