Royal Tandoori in South Tyneside

Had a terrible experience here! We were regulars but no longer. Restaurant was a quarter full and we waited almost an hour for our food, no following up/updating us. It finally arrived with no apology whatsoever just an unfriendly attitude. As we were leaving the restaurant, we always say thanks and bye regardless …not even an acknowledgment. Plenty of Indians on ocean road. I wouldn’t bother coming here. A little customer care goes a long way and you can’t even look after your regulars.

Been going for 20+ years, lovely staff and delicious food, great value for money

Always get a lovely meal here, have been coming for over 20 years, and travel over 30 miles to get here. Always made to feel welcome.

Never again! would understand if it was busy but half full, 20 min wait for our drinks 1 HOUR for starters which weren't even hot, clearly been sitting there waiting as my partners was cold. service was just non existent, squeezed around a small table.. asked for our food bagged up to go.. and then trying to over charge us. absolutely disgraceful

I’ve been eating here for many years now, even since moving to the South over ten years ago! It might be cheap with great special offers, but the quality of food is always top drawer regardless. Indian restaurants down south need to learn more from these guys. Usually I find it costs at least twice the price, and neither the food nor the hospitality reaches the standards on offre here. Without fail, I always look forward to eating here when visiting town.

If I could give this place more stars than 5' I would. The food is absolutely delicious, hence the fact that I've ordered from here 3 times in 5 days.. The staff are really professional and the restaurant has a nice ambience. I would definitely recommend. Having tried 2 other Indian restaurants along the same street, this is by far my favourite.

Cheerful, and very cheap..... £6.95 for three courses. We had four poppadoms and pickles, two three course meals and 5 pints of good quality Kingfisher beer to wash it down with for £40.....whats not to love???

Had my friends to the royal last week and had a great meal. I'm pleased because I'm always telling people what great value and taste they will experience. I've been a customer for many years and the staff treat my wife and I as friends.

First time here on Saturday on a recommendation. It felt familiar, I realised I'd bn here many years before.The staff gave us a warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We were shown to a little booth where you felt u had privacy to relax. Nice atmosphere.When the food arrived, it was plentiful and really good. The chicken was so tender and we enjoyed the starters too of onion bhagi and minced lamb kebab.The price for 3 courses and 2 drinks each was really reasonable, we were pleasantly surprised.We will definitely go back again.!!! 😊

Had a lovely meal and staff very friendly and helpful. £6.95 Special. Couldn't eat it all so took it home. The picture of the curry is from taking it home.
