Had ate here recently and must say the staff can keep you waiting, with the price and time.... its medicare to good at best! - 3 stars!

Arrived late , restaurant about to close but we were very kindly allowed to be seated. Very friendly helpful staff member . Food ( cod, chips mushy peas) was as delicious as we expected. Highly recommend for value , a great pot of tea too!

Used to be the best now they've switched to oil instead of drippingThe batter is soggy and tasteless and leaves a horrible greasy mouthfeel. And if you're indisposed towards oil (as most people are) you'll need to pack the gaviscon. The staff are still lovely and the restaurant is great but the food has gone downhill.

Disgusted with the service, my father who is 90 years old visited on Friday 15th October, he always gets the 'tea time special', when he came to pay his bill, it was not the tea time special price, he was charged full price as he said he didn't want bread with his meal !!! When he queried the bill he was told he didn't ask for the 'tea time special', he paid the full price but came home very upset and confused. I can't believe the staff could treat an elderly man so badly, he said he will never go back I think the staff need some training in customer service

Went here today paid £21 for fish and chips they were awful we couldn't eat them the fish was so thin you could see through it the chips looked liked warm ups the manageress was not interested in our complaint telling all my friends and family to avoid this place wouldn't even give it a star

Visited the cafe side, decor and atmosphere are poor, food was poor quality, portions were very poor and too expensive for what it is. No wonder that we were the only customers, the experience was bad from the start as the poor young girl serving clearly had very little training and did not know much about the options on the menu. Large cod chips and mushy peas with a drink 12.99 cod was average sized and poorly cut, batter was fine but heavy, very small portion of chips many of which were scrag ends and the Pepsi even though asked and told it was proper Pepsi ended up being pepsi max. To sum up it's a poor fish and chip shop on both cafe and takeaway sides. Avoid theres better places.

Eaten here half a dozen times, last time three weeks ago, before that on Covid "eat out to help out" half price deal. With my local mam, I live down south.Fish always freshly fried, lightly battered, lots of firm white meat.Chips could be a bit more crisp, they tend to be on the soggy "take-away" side. But great value, sit down for take-away prices, some good meal deals, basic but fast friendly service. What's not to like, long may it be a Stockton institution !

Used to be a frequent visitor to their Middlesbrough shop when I was at Uni and always enjoyed their chips with curry source. Not the same anymore the oil the chips were cooked in didn't have a nice taste and the batter was a bit stodgy so was a little disappointed.

I enjoyed my first ever lunch here today (Good Friday). It was busy when we sat down but waited nothing more than 6 minutes. We ordered the Fisherman's Feast, plenty for the two of us.Platter included 1 cod, 1 haddock, 5 scampi, salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumber & onion), slice of lemon, on a bed of chips. Table service is great here, they bring everything you may need & the Tartare sauce hits the spot. Cutlery is neat too 😊Paid £13 for the meal plus a soft drink. Will be returning for sure. Thankyou 😊

It was a good experience when we went to barnacles at Stockton. The staff where good and asked us if everything was alright we had an issue but the lady corrected it straight away. The fish and chips where freshly done and the price very reasonable we will be visiting here once again. I thank barnacles for a lovely meal, good service and a very good welcome. Plenty of seating
