Be Our Guest in Sunderland

The concept of this night really appealed to my wife and me. A 3 course meal with a cabaret show seemed an exciting and new thing to try. However we were both disappointed from the arrival.There is a very small range of drinks available, but my wife settled with a pint of Coca Cola. Unfortunately it didn't taste nice and after speaking with the waitress we were informed the gas was finished but a new one had just been fitted so a complimentary 1/2 PINT was given as a replacement (even though we had payed for a pint).Waiting for us on our table was the menu, which featured a much smaller selection than was advertised on the website. But I had settled with a Devils chicken skewer on a bed of salad; what I received was 2 pieces of chicken, a bit onion and some pepper on a stick and sitting on about 4 leaves of salad. We were then informed that our choice of main, coq au vin, was unavailable as everyone had chosen it (not that there was much choice; 3 options from the mains) so we settled with the pan fried haddock. It was nice apart form the overpowering taste of butter that it had obviously been cooked in. Desserts were just shop bough cheesecake and 'warm brownie.The men's toilets featured a puddle, most likely urine, in the middle that you had walk around. The ladies had one blocked toilet, the other covered in vomit and no facilities to dry your hands. There was no heating on in the function room and we both had to sit wearing our coats all night. There was also an empty carton off the chicken on the table next to us.We only watched 2 scenes of the show before we cut our night short. I'm led to believe that it was supposed to be funny; but a man dressed like a woman with his arms in the part where the breasts should have been walking around waving them at people was not my kind of humour. And the reaction from the rest of the audience leads me to believe in not the only one.On a plus side the staff are very friendly and there wasn't such a long wait between courses.
