Good Italian food at good prices. Friendly and fast service.

Just went on spec we did not book, quite busy but managed to get us table. Food was good and so was the service.

I have recently been going to Marcellos with my Mother as a weekly treat. Out of the 7 or 8 times in the last 2 months I have been here I have never had anything close to what I would consider a bad meal or experiencePremises and atmosphereThe interior of the restaurant is quite spacious which allows for easy movement around the premises. The atmosphere is quite cosy and no matter where I sit the place is always clean. Moreover there is Italian radio played in the background which helps soak in the atmosphere and sometimes it is nice to just listen to music from another country.StaffThe staff are absolutely fantastic and I have never had a bad experience with them and quite frankly they all deserve a massive pat on the back. They are always super friendly and both me and my mother love talking to them when we visit. The staff are also very accommodating and will go out of their way to ensure the experience is fantastic (which I appreciate massively)FoodTypically I will have a three course meal every week which consists of fresh parma ham and mozzarella, lasagne and either chocolate fudge cake or a tiramisu. The food is always fantastic and I always am able to fully clear every plate which is quite rare for me.SummaryI would whole heartily recommend this restaurant to my friends and extended family as in my mind there is no better place to visit in all of Sunderland.

I hadn't been here since I left Sunderland over 30 years by ago. I was delighted to find that not only was Marcello's still open, but that it was still as wonderful as I remembered. The food and service was beyond reproach. A gem of a restaurant that you seriously must visit of you are on the area.

From the outside you wouldn't think this would be up to much. Went on a work lunch and there was something for everyone. Lovely staff. There was a little bit of plastic in my risotto so knocked a star off. Also my manager's main course did arrive in tin foil. With a couple of tweaks this could be a great place.

Food was nice. But few fails for me. Few bones in seabass, I'd hope a restaurant would know how to fillet properly. Lasagne didn't have much filling between sheets. The taste was lovely on all. Oh but I've never in my life been served a meal in tin foil. Still confused about that....
