Ox & Plough in Sunderland

Had a great Sunday lunch here, just like a home cooked dinner, so good.

The Sunday roast was amazing. Ordered to take away, large portions and lovely staff.

Went to ox and plough for a private function room was ok could have done with a bit more seating service was fine bit intimidating in the toilets as maybe 5/6 lads coming out of the toilet cubicles at the same time not sure if I would return

This is the 2nd time I've had Sunday lunch delivered and both times received exactly at the time requested. Beautifully cooked food, generous portions and good value for money. The desserts are delicious too!

Fantastic atmosphere and friendly staff - a real community pub and good luck to the new management who are doing an amazing job. I am thrilled to be able to call the Ox and Plough my local again! Fab quiz on Tuesdays-full of laughs and fun!

Seen this place on a local Facebook group, the food looked lovely so I thought we'd give it a try. I had the Hogfather burger and the Mrs had gammon steak with chips. Both were cooked to perfection and very very tasty. From outside the building itself isn't too pleasing to the eye, but they've obviously done the best job possible with the exterior. The reason I mention that is that you shouldn't let it put you off, it's nice inside, well decorated and clean. The barman that served us was friendly and professional and I'm not sure if it's a family run pub but his service was top notch and he obviously took pride in his job. You could see into the kitchen from the bar which my wife noticed and said was a good sign. It gives you a sense of trust when you can see what's going on in the kitchen and all of what we saw was clean.I'm all for supporting local businesses and this is definitely a business deserving of the support of its local community. We will come back.

Fabulous pub, really friendly manageress and manager. Bar staff top grade. New manageress will be doing food again once the brewery sort out the kitchen.
