I quite like it here. Food was lovely although I was a little disappointed at getting 8 chicken pieces in my Sri Lanka. It was mostly sauce (which was still nice).

Nice venue. Really nice food the spicy chips are delightful . My first time here so I went for my usual safe option.. jalfrezi and it was beautiful. Food came out very quick (they were trying to rush us out before 6pm however) the waiters were very polite lovely young men . Starters were delicious but poor portions , curry was fab can't fault it.

Want for a early night meal before visiting the fire station for a show. Me and my partner started with King prawns on puree this was tasty but prawns were over cooked. Main meal was chicken daysack again tasty but did not get much chicken. Service was good. I would return if I was just going for a quick meal.

An ideal location for a pre theatre dinner. The service was very good and the food was very nice, served up in plenty of time before the show started. It appeared to be quite well patronised with some Asian ladies enjoying their selection from the menu, which is always a good sign. There was plenty of choice on the menu with colour coded icons alongside each dish indicating the degree of hotness. The staff were pleasant, polite and attentive and the place was nice and clean. I can recommend this place to anyone but I would suggest you book in advance as we did to avoid disappointment if you try a walk in.

We attended spice empire on 2nd Dec 2021, we were rather late attending as we had been to the theatre, no reservation no problem.Firstly I was struck by how pretty the restaurant is and how they made an effort to make people feel welcome.Secondly service was amazing, The young lady who served us had the right amount of sass and judged is as quirky patrons, joining in with our banter. The wine was delicious and we were impressed at the speed of the turn around for the starter. One of the owners checked on us and stayed for a moment to chat which was lovely, even helping with pronunciation of the dish I had ordered. I was absolutely delighted with the butter chicken and can say it is one of if not the best I've tasted. A Bailey's coffee to finish and we were done. What came across to us is the care, not only for the atmosphere, the food, the choice of wine but also for their staff, I heard the owner ask if they wer ok, made sure they ate and even took them home.Would I go again, certainly, would I recoment... absolutely

Outstanding restaurant!!! I am from Aberdeen and there is not a shortage of good Indian restaurants in the area, however we were on a trip to Sunderland came across the Spice Empire. From the starters to the naan, one of the best curries we have ever had. Would highly recommend. Service was excellent also.
