Haven't been for a while, partly because it was always so empty, but was pleasantly surprised, quite a few people in, and it was a lovely friendly atmosphere, bar staff friendly and a lovely open fire,

Lovely pub that's why I have been going there for years

A proper friendly old pub. Beer choice nothing special but a nice warm fire and friendly enough clientele. Ideal spot to stop off for a pint after a walk up Penshaw monument on a cold day.

A proper village pub with no airs and graces, roaring fires and cold beers. Not as busy as the pub next door but for me that is part of the charm.
