The Ropery in Sunderland

Webster's Ropery, also known as Deptford Patent Ropery on the River Wear did in fact make actual ropes!Established in 1793 the company reputedly made some of the ropes for Nelson's Flagship HMS Victory.1804 Production reached 800 tons per year.1891 they produced a steel rope 4 miles long and weighing 20 tons, for a colliery in south west England. The cranes at the yard and at the goods station were unable to lift the load all at once, so it was made up into three coils, allowing the slack between them to hang, and the coils were lifted one at a time.

What a gem in Sunderland, a historical building now with new purpose right on the water, fabulous Wedding venue and party place.

Amazing,outstanding, magical are only a few words I would use to describe The Websters Ropery. Me and wife married there yesterday,and it was Amazing.The venue,ALL the staff,the food,attention to detail was simply superb!!.They could not do enough for us and made our day extra special. From day one of booking our wedding we were looked after,put at ease and kept up to date on everything. Special mention to Lauren our wedding,absolutely amazing person who made everything so easy for us.Znd the master of ceremonies, Shaun,a lovely man who made our day soo special.He even joined in thanking Jurgen Klopp.Thankyou soo much.

We went there for our friend's wedding, 22.02.22. From start to finish, the staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. Food was outstanding, catering for myself (gluten free), the resident dj played loads of requests and definitely kept the party going. Love the supplies in the ladies, perfumes and hairspray etc, lovely touch. The manager was very friendly, helpful and attentive, as were all the staff. I would highly recommend Websters Ropery for your special day.

Lovely wedding day/night yesterday at Webster Ropery Sunderland. Amazing venue, food was lovely and staff were great. Organisation was great and they couldn't be more helpful. Highly recommended. Thank you.

Stunning venue. Been here tonight for my sister's wedding party. I used to be the manager here years ago, and its been updated and decorated to the highest standard- its classy, tasteful and just beautiful- well done guys. What an improvement. A fantastic place to hold a function.

Due to lockdown, we had to effectively split our wedding into two parts-the team here were so accommodating with everything we asked for, and went above and beyond what we expected for our celebration. The food was amazing and the staff are so friendly.Thanks for an amazing experience!!

My daughter had her wedding here. .and I can thank the ropery enough. They made us very welcome and did a great job considering the circumstances . A beautiful place great food and the drinks are responsibly priced. Thank you very much ❤️
