Having found by accident and noticing cask ale and craft beer sign I decided to take dad, got there asked if I could grab some chips at the bar, was shown to the restaurant side, at which point everything went down hill,Ale options = bottled Abbots (or Smiths on tap)Diet coke wasnt, it was either Pepsi or coke,Ordered 1x cheesy chips 1 x normal chips only normal came out, not sure if the lass was having a bad day or was just hacked off that I just wanted chips and not a big dinner. The other food did look really good and the chips were scrumptious, and had it not been for the disappointing signage and service I'd be back in a heart beat for the food.

Popped in for lunch. Lovely warm welcome. Had mince and dumpling with lots of fresh vegetables. Beautifully cooked, good sized portion, tasted fantastic.

What a fabulous venue in such a secluded location. A wonderful secret on the outskirts of Sunderland. The welcome is very warm and the ambience amazing. Add to that a huge range of food for all tastes and budgets and you have the ideal solution to both a formal and informal meal.

Was OK was looking forward to chefs chicken curry and was greeted with chicken breast in mayflower curry powder. I can tell it a mile off it has a weird taste. Maysan or makeway are loads better if your going to use it! But could of made it in the house. My sons food looked OK everything was well done chips, chicken nuggets etc. Wouldn't rush back.

I was last there in 1983! It was heartwarming to see the same ambiance, coziness and authenticity of a pub still so popular. Great food and friendly service.

Staying local and was told about this place, we would never have found it to be honest. Very welcoming local pub, food was to die for, reasonable prices and with the log burner going didn't want to leave. If your nearby search for this place it's well worth it πŸ‘Œ
