Lovely atmosphere, great service and lovely meals. Only negative was not all main meals came out together so some people were nearly finished before other got served.

The place was busy with a football crowd and I should've thought about that before looking for somewhere to have a quiet, late lunch. I had the choice of dining in the bar (with the football crowd) or eating outside in the smoking come swearing area. I opted for the latter, and ordered a pizza (for swiftness). The food was okay, and the staff were nice. It was the ambience and enforced company that spoilt my experience.

Wow! First time being in here and I wasn't disappointed. Food was amazing and reasonably priced. Our waitress Katie was superb, her customer service was out of this world. What a credit she is to the stackyard. I will definitely be back with my family.

Just been in for the first time, had spicy chicken and the wife has chicken Kiev, best homemade chips I have had in years. Highly recommended local pub with great homemade food

My wife booked a table here for a family Tuesday night meal for five after reading the excellent reviews. The Stack Yard itself is a lovely detached pub tucked away in Herrington and only walking distance from the rear of Herrington Park. The night we arrived the car park at the side of the building was packed, as was the road approaching the pub - a good sign, obviously. Food was nice but the service left a lot to be desired. We had to mill about next to the bar for well over ten minutes for the table to be prepared and the starters took so long that we honestly thought they'd forgotten about us. We usually eat out twice a month and this is the first time we've had to ask where our food was. When the empty cans and bottles were cleared away from the table I thought the lass would return to ask us if we'd want more drinks. When I had to ask she went off, continued serving the other remaining diners, wiping down tables, etc., then seemed to remember us, came over and took our order but by the time they arrived we'd almost finished. The place was fairly busy when we first arrived but we were the only diners left at the end of our meal and there seemed to be plenty of staff working. It didn't bother us but the chanting and rowdiness coming from the lads in the bar, who'd obviously had a good day, might have been off putting for some. We left a little disappointed that the pub didn't live up to the reviews but I still might return to try the Panacalty, this being the only time I've ever seen it on the menu.

Great time cooked food. Friendly atmosphere and immaculately clean loos.Car park could do with sweeping hence 4 not 5 stars.

Friendly atmosphere. Very busy but good service. Four of us ordered different things from the menu and the portions were all massive. Fish was beautiful and the size of a small surf board 😀. Chips were of the home cooked type and were delicious. Dog enjoyed it too

It’s years since I had been here & the place always had a good reputation. This negative complaint started when we pulled up in the car park ( January)which was strewn with empty bottles, cans and leaves. First impressions mean a lot . The outside looked Tired , inside also looked tired & in need of a good clean. The table we chose had food debris all around . I guess we should have used sticks thenThe Food took an hour ( lunchtime) my wife ordered Salmon which was inedible , veg was practically raw, I ordered Steak Pie which was not very tasty with watery gravy .This place used to have an excellent reputation but now everything about it has went downhill. We won’t return!
