Great value beer. Brew Dog IPA approx £3.50 a pint and numerous great value meal offers with a pint, although brew Dog isn't part of this still has Ship Yard which is a decent pint.

Work related trip to Crook Sunday 3rd April, so we traveled to The wild Boar after it being recommended. Wasn't disappointed. Really good food and excellent service. Definitely return next month when up North for the next Quad bike training session.

Must be short staffed, had to clear table myself, kids food was poor, never had my favoured ale, waiting to get served bar staff obviousy favour locals and when i spoke up to say im next her reply was IM SERVING, i guess queueing is just for strangers. Only positive was on exit cleaner sweeping the door area wished me a pleasent rest of day.

Absolutely love the wild boar. Tables cleared immediately and it's such a lovely warm atmosphere. Food is always delicious no matter what we choose to order. Steak earlier in the week was cooked to perfection. Gorgeous server Ellie is just a credit to the boar. Nothing is too much trouble. Everyone of the staffs effort is so much appreciated. Never forget that.

Pretty cramped, mediocre beer selection, good value good options. Didn't have any burns night offering on which other spoons have had. Free water on the bar which is good. Friendly staff. Had no childrens menus available so have to ask staff or check the app.

Cracking boozer and one of the largest I’ve been in, with a couple of floors. The food served here is very nice and at great prices, and won’t break the bank just having a meal. It’s usually kept tidy and can attract many folk on a weekend meaning closer to Friday and Saturday the night life can be lively! The staff that I’ve met over the past few years have been great. It’s located right in the centre of Houghton-le-Spring close to other bars restaurants and shops. I’d highly recommend this place if you are looking for a nice reasonably priced meal, or a few drinks, of which your selection will be great!

Comfortable and spacious pub in the town centre, enjoyed a very good breakfast here in nice clean surroundings. Not an old historical building, but function now as a pub. Good value drinks and food. New menu now includes the Wetherspoons pizza range, along with all the usual food favourites. Worth calling in on.
