Ying's Thai Takeaway in Sunderland

Last weekend was the first time we've used this place and chose it based on other reviews. All our tastes vary so I'll be as objective as possible. My wife doesn't like spicy food so opted for vegetable spring rolls followed by stir fry satay mixed seafood egg fried rice both of which she enjoyed very much. I went for spiced belly pork to start which was good and followed that with mixed seafood special with coconut rice and found it disappointing. It was not spicy at all and the sauce it was in far too watery.

Read about this place on social media and thought I'd give it a try as it seemed to have good reviews and I thoroughly enjoy Thai food.I telephoned my order for collection and found the service to be fine with my food being ready on time.Unfortunately, my positive experiences of Ying's ends there.Both my wife and myself found the food to be overly priced, greasy and fairly tasteless while completely lacking the delicate aromas and flavours of genuine Thai cuisine.Sadly, I can only assume the word Thai is used in their name as perhaps the chef wears a tie whilst cooking.By all means give it a try, you never know. Hopefully, your experience might be better than mine... I doubt it could be much worse.

Simply the best authentic cooked Thai food in the north east. Been ordering from here on and off for over a year and never has the standard of food dropped. Salt and chilli chicken to die for and the couple who run the take away are kind, respectful and very courteous. PS: please consider making the Thai chicken wings a main dish we love them. 💚💚

Finally! After years of searching...we have found a really really good Thai takeaway! Great quality meat, everything was really tasty and well made. Will 100% order again and recommend to everyone! Lush!

Ordered from them a few weeks back.It took 2hours 30minutes to get my order, was still warm though, and the food was good.I don’t understand booking for “wok” time, I’ve never ordered from a take away restaurant that you can’t pick up in about 20/30 minutes but at yings I’ve been quoted 2/3 hours for collection and that’s if I can order at all.There seems to be some poor management with cooking, or not enough staff.My wife is from Thailand and we really enjoy Thai food, if Yings could sort out there delivery/collection/wok time, we would order every week. I understand everything is cooked fresh, but I’ve lived in Thailand and Thai food can be cooked up quite quickly.This review ment to try and help Yings gain more customers by reading my review and making changes, but who knows if that will happen?

This is worth every star!! Knocks spots off the rest very professional delivered on time rang prior to order to make sure they delivered to the area I wanted it,on a whole awesome this will be our touch from now on..👍😉I just want to add...this is 3rd time round....and again absolutely fantastic standard of food..we look forward to it..this is 100% restaurant standard and more...mouth watering cant praise you guys enough..👍😉

Fantastic Thai food. Had the salt and chilli squid, then the beef red curry with Jasmine rice and Thai prawn crackers. Everything was amazingly spiced and very tasty. Up there with the best Thai food I have had. We will be back.

This would of been 5 star if I didn’t have to wait another 13 mins in the shop.. I get places being busy but nearly 80 mins just for a pick up is too long. The taste of the food was delicious but the main (weeping tiger) by the time I got home was cold to luke warm and had a weird smell.. didn’t let that put me off though as it was nice. If they can correct those things (maybe employ more staff) it will be changed to a 5 star. I will be ordering again as the food is nice 👍🏼

Just ordered off just eat. Not the cheapest place but it's was absolutely delicious. Will define be going back again.

Thai is one of my favourite cuisines! Ying’s food is beautiful; fresh, full of flavour, excellent quality and completely authentic.Tonight was the 2nd time I’d ordered and I went directly to Ying’s rather than using just-eat. I couldn’t get through at first, but Lawrence (apologies if spelled incorrectly) rang me back and left a voice message! I proceeded to order, received 10% discount 👌🏻 and just before the delivery driver left, Lawrence rang me again to say he was on his way (I’m presuming I was the last order of the night).All in all, the food is amazing and there’s a genuine care for the customer too, which is like a breath of fresh air!Highly recommended!!!
