Visited the Coast Inn today for an early dinner by the sea. The location is great sitting either out front look out at the boat yard or inside, and both dog friendly. They have their own parking too which is an advantage in this area of Mersea.Staff were very friendly and there is a great range of drinks including beers. We both had fish and chips that were fresh and beautifully cooked.Highly recommended and will be back soon.

As I opened the front door a strong, even putrid smell of fish has wafted up my nose the last two times I’ve visited with the smell sticking to my clothes after leaving, we were seated quickly by a really nice and helpful server who understood and amazing though the issues we had when visiting the Coast Inn.As a main I ordered a Bean Chili which arrived within about 10 minutes with everything else that was ordered on the menu it supposedly has “The Bean Chili”, “Rice”, “Soured Cream” and “Nachos” the nachos being 3 what I would call more samosa type nacho and no soured cream at all after eating the nachos I attempted to eat the rice which on the surface looks like regular pub rice what you’d expect, oh how I was wrong the rice was straight out the microwave with the pot markings still on the top so surprised by the hard rice I took a video which I below slightly put off by the rice I tried to eat the chili but with it’s look of to best call it school slop was impossible.Overall as a pub the Coast Inn is great when you’re just getting drinks and staying outside or if you’re only staying for 10-15 minutes but anything longer and not a very nice place to be in, hopefully the newly opening pub The White Hart up the road will put some competition on the owners of the Coast to improve.

Went here for dinner had fish and chips..if I'm honest it didn't set my taste buds alight ....however it's a lovely restaurant with a good menu and a balcony view..The staff are all friendly and hard working.....my only criticism there was quite a few glasses left on the tables upstairs...i can only assume that it was down to them being busy and possibly under staff...having said all that i will definitely be back to try some of the other bits on there menu

Service fair for the area. The food was very good but when we left our car was blocked in the car park by what turned out to be a member of staff!!! She was far from happy that we asked her to move so we could leave. What are the management thinking allowing staff to block cats into parking spaces when access is so restricted!!!!. This is far from good customer service.

Enjoyed our Valentines meal here. Best Calamari ever my husband said for starters. I had parsnip soup which was delicious. Our mains were plentiful in fact neither of us could finish . Staff were very attentive without being in your face.

We popped in while visiting the island. Lovely clean decor, with lots of outside seating too. We stayed inside by the big fire as it was a chilly morning. Menu is small and simple, but we were all happy with our choices. The coffee is below standard… I would just get a juice next time. Or come back later for a Gin!Most of all, it’s Dog friendly!

Amazing place by the coast. Family and dog friendly. We was pleasantly surprised to see so many dog bowls with water by the tables. Staff was very friendly and professional. The food.. simply amazing. They also have a customer carpark which was very handy as spaces to park are very limited there. Strongly recommend to book both restaurant and carpark before hand.

Has outside and inside sitting areas. Dog friendly. Looking cosy and busy. We only had some drinks so hard to say about the food. However, we have been served considerably quickly. Staff nice and friendly. I would come back for brunch next time.
