All of the hotel staff we met were wonderful, very friendly and welcoming. All 3 courses of the evening meal were delicious. We were a fairly large party and food was served to everyone at the same time, all dishes were hot and well presented. We have been group guests at many hotels that haven't got this right so a gold star to everyone at Maenan Abbey. Breakfast was also delicious and the lady that served us was a sweetheart. The hotel would benefit from significant investment in an overhaul. Our room, whilst comfortable (but hot), was dated and in desperate need of modernisation, that is why I have rated 4 not 5 stars. It is an impressive historic building and has the potential to be an amazing hotel and wedding venue. That said, we would still return because what the rooms lack the service and food more than make up for. Thank you to everyone at Maenan Abbey for a lovely night's stay :)

Taking a weekend activity break in North Wales with my son & two of his friends, we were delighted to discover that this impressive, traditional country hotel provides an oasis of relaxation & calm. Offering a wide range of accommodation (occasionally quaint as in the case ofour four- bed family room), the traditional quality of service, truly delicious meals & comfortable bar all make for a truly memorable stay for all the right reasons, all of which represents great value for money. This was our first visit to the Maenan Abbey but it will certainly not be our last!

Such a beautiful experience! The hotel is not far from many tourist attractions but secluded enough to enjoy a relaxing time away! The staff was very polite and helpful !The restaurant has good food with vegan/vegetarian option(s) ( some on request ) and very good price for value !Pet friendly!

When we arrived I was really impressed with the exterior, lots of history and it looked stunning, we got into the room and noticed the windows wide open and soon realised why, the heating doesn’t turn off meaning even on a hot day the radiator is pumping out heat day and night, it was sickly and stopped us sleeping, I did mention lack of sleep because of the heat to the lady the next day and her reply was “you should try room 6 as that’s even worse” I wasn’t expecting that answer! The bed was awful, we also paid an extra £20 to upgrade but sleeping on the floor would have been no different, it was lumpy and hard and really does need to be changed.the bathroom cabinet was filthy inside and the shower full of black mould.I was also rather put off by the fact there where so many animals, 6 cats and dogs roaming around without warning, I suffer from asthma and have allergies and I ended up in the room having a reaction, we came down for breakfast and had to leave half way through as my eyes where a mess and we left plates hardly touched. We checked out at 8.40am which we’ve never done before. There’s also NOTHING to do and if you fancy going for food and some drinks there’s no taxi’s, they don’t do the area.Very disappointing visit and I wouldn’t visit again due to the animals and room comfort.

Group agm. Coffee on arrival was weak. All food choices were pre booked. There was a big choice for mains. However speaking for myself , my starter which basically was prawns with avocado without any sauce. Also I had roast beef and Yorkshire pud. Meat was tough. All staff were pleasant and helpful

Very dated decor when attended for a wake. But the buffet was superb. Beautiful setting. Shame about the dilapidated cabin alongside the carpark, this should be knocked down !

Owners with a heart of gold! Beautiful house and delicious breakfast! They welcome dogs, which is great! Cleanliness was not the best, but with such a big house, must be hard to keep clean. Room had a temperature and humidity issue.

Just got home from a mini break at Maenan Abbey Hotel. Lovely old country house in a great location. All staff were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast and evening meals were delicious. Our room was comfortable, warm and we were spoilt with a double whirlpool bath. Many thanks to all for helping us to enjoy a chilled couple of days away (special thanks to Kitty cat 😸 for a lovely warm welcome and cuddles). We'll be back
