Ordered two full Welsh breakfasts and they were very very disappointing. Paid £2 extra for a single hash brown that was soggy with fat and barely cooked. The mushrooms were deep fried and the slice of black pudding was undercooked and had obviously been cut in half, then split between 2 breakfasts. The lady serving was on her own and very busy, but she was polite and friendly. Won't be going back

Stopped to have lunch at Pen-y-Bryn and was greeted by a miserable young dark haired girl, took both our orders and we asked for sandwiches on white bread.Brought both out on brown granary bread and when I told her I asked for white she stomped off to change it.Came back less than a minute after to say they have no white bread, why did she not mention that when taking our order plus she gave us the choice to begin with. Was the worse customer service I’ve experienced in a long while and she definitely needs to be sacked because that sort of service and attitude is not except-able.Shame we stopped here because there were lots of other lovely places we could of had lunch and would have received far better customer service I’m sure..

Such a weird experience. Rude, stressed woman served us, a younger girl was more polite than she was. Cake was nice but absolutely coated in icing sugar which made it a real faff to eat. The same person who was rude with us was the same with other customers. Maybe just caught them on a bad day but won't be back.

Agree with previous reviews regarding the rude waitress/owner!! Were sat in a small room with three young waitresses where eating their dinner. Were told rudely that no food wasn't available anymore apart from three cakes. Not felt welcome at all!!

Called in just before 5:00pm on a cold March day and was greeted by a very warm welcome. The staff were very attentive and service was great. Our table was in a nice and quiet setting. The food arrived in good time and was very tasty with good-sized portions. Will call in again when visiting the area.

Please be aware that when booking a room here, that Pen Y Bryn and Number 26 High Street are the same business!! My Mother in law booked to stay at Number 26 over Christmas (Christmas Eve - 27th). After some reviews she became nervous about her booking and decided to book Pen Y Bryn instead. She had booked the original and second room via booking.com and was going to cancel the original booking as soon as she booked Pen Y Bryn but, before she could, she received a phone call from Number 26 to say that both businesses are the same and would she like to keep both bookings. My mother in law said, no thank you - please could I cancel Number 26 and keep the new Pen y Bryn booking. She was told this was all done for her and they had a conversation about how ill my mother in law had been and how much she needed the break. On arrival day, there was a key in an envelope in the hall at Pen Y Bryn with my mother in law's name on it. A key was inside but it didn't fit any of the rooms. The only person around was someone working in the tea rooms who said they had no idea who owned the business or how to contact them. Yet somehow, this person works there and was able to take my mother in law next door to number 26 and open a room for her. A cold room with no access to the breakfast my mother in law had paid for. This lady who doesn't know who she works for and cannot contact anyone in charge, miraculously came into the information that my mother in law had also been charged for two rooms, despite cancelling her original booking! Just as my mother in law began to cry, the woman opened a second room in the bed and breakfast she knows nothing about and works in but doesn't know who hired her and miraculously, there was a laid out continental breakfast and the room was warm. 'Don't worry' the woman said 'We'll sort it all out.'The day my mother in law left (27th) she went to speak to a lady in the tea rooms who suddenly denied all knowledge of her colleague saying she would reimburse my mother in law for the room she had cancelled. Just over £600 was taken from my mother in law's account and they blamed Booking.com, despite promising to sort it out and despite the fact the lady she spoke to on the phone saying that the original booking was successfully cancelled. This place had the nerve to say they had tried to contact my mother in law on the day she arrived to discuss her booking - we have checked her phone records with BT and no one called her on the day of arrival.Booking.com have been brilliant and have tried to speak to this 'business' but the B&B are refusing to help and have blocked my mother in law's calls. My mother in law is an extremely vulnerable pensioner and they have taken advantage. Avoid, avoid, avoid! We didn't want to write this review, we just wanted the money back that they owe her but they are not professional and certainly cannot be trusted!
