The Chainbridge Hotel in Denbighshire

Didn't stay there, just went for lunch. Menu disappointing at lunchtime but not much better in the evening. Service perfunctory. Location absolutely stunning and well worth a drive, long walk or train ride. The location demands a much better menu and service. Still worth stopping for tea and scones though. Enjoy!

One of the hotels with best location. Lovely walks along the canal and to various attractions. Friendly and helpful staff.

Had lunch here several times. Great views of the white water under the chain bridge. Food was good, but is as much about the location. Cantilevered deck out over the water is a great place to sit on a nice day.

We had a quick drink here recently. The woman behind the bar had little time for me, choosing instead to continue her conversation with another customer. When it was time to pay, she offered me the card machine without showing me the price on the screen. When I asked to see the screen, she gave me an attitude saying, "I'll give you a receipt!" I don't need to be given a receipt after the card has been charged, I need to see what I am *ABOUT* to be charged!... and I don't need the attitude.Also, on a previous occasion, I'd enjoyed the beer I bought, but here wasn't good and had been poorly kept.Quite a nice location though.

Fabulous setting, lovely clean place. Called in for lunchtime sandwiches which were awful. This place used to do the best prawn and egg mayo sandwiches on granary bread. No longer on the menu. Recommend the place but not the sandwiches.

What a gem! I can not fault this hotel, It is located in a beautiful setting. Very friendly and welcoming staff,the food is delicious and well served, looking forward to our next visit.

Stopped here for late lunch on Sunday , beautiful place to sit overlooking the river , best Sunday lunch I’ve had for a long time , super tasty and fresh with awesome Yorkshire puddings !Staff were great too !

Excellent Location.We walked along the canal from Llangollen and enjoyed a coffee and scone over looking the river on the balcony.The bar is open to non residents and serves a variety of beers and spirits, coffee and cake as well as lunches.Well worth a visit.

Five of us had lunch today (April 3rd) The food and surroundings were first class, but let down by presumably inexperienced and overworked staff. Time and again we had to attract their attention as service was so slow. A great shame.

Did not stay here but looks a great place to stay. Lovely view of River Dee nice walk along canal into Llangollen. Heritage rail way station over Bridge also into Llangollen or towards Carraig. Nice view from bar of river well worth even popping in to have 10mins. ALSO turn left along canal to see horse shoe falls (WEIR) but nice place.
