The Fat Boar in Flintshire

Pleasant staff but long wait for service despite being nearly empty.Husbands steak medium rare and very nice. However mine was extremely fatty and hard to eat I left most of it.Staff then billed us for £10 more than meal cost. This was quickly corrected when we pointed out the mistake.

Sunday roast delivery x2, which arrived over 2 hours late (and no apology given). Measly portion of leathery meat, mushy veg and watery gravy. Worse than hospital food

Good place, they definitely should make a bigger portion of sticky sausages and put it on the main course. They are so good. However upstairs isn’t as lively as downstairs. Looking out the window at the back of the fat boar upstairs is so depressing to look at. Downstairs is better. I wish they did more cocktails. However staff are nice and helpful

Great Atmosphere and some really nice food. Particularly the sticky sausages and chicken waffle ! Also caters for children which is useful!

Had some salt and pepper chips, spring rolls with a pint. Guinness was quite poor and both chips were really undercooked. Not really acceptable for the £6 for snp chips. Shame as service and environment was nice.No vegan options either

Had a takeaway delivery from Fat Boar Mold over the weekend. Order was placed for 2 ‘DOUBLE’ Steak Burgers and Chips. One of which was requested Gluten-Free.What arrived was 2 ‘SINGLE’ Steak Burgers and Chips. Both Gluten-free. Both cold. There can’t have been a mix up as there’s no Single Steak Burger on the menu. So they knew the order was wrong when they made it. At £23.50 it really wasn’t worth it. I’d have got more with a McDonalds Happy Meal.Never again. Don’t do it to yourselves unless they sort themselves out.

Incredible. Lovely staff, great atmosphere, the food is super tasty. Great quality and fantastic veggie options and the cocktails are imaginative and fantastic.

You can see I don't only review places that are bad but this place did not live up to expectations.Upon arrival we were told there were some issues in the kitchen and could only do drinks. After I said 'I've made a reservation & you could've called to let me know' they then said 'oh no it's fine'!On the website your asked to choose where you would like to sit so I chose upstairs restaurant. However upon being seated we were shown a table downstairs, I mentioned this and the waitress replied upstairs was usually kept for the evening..... what's the point in offering it then?We ordered sticky sausages & meatballs & garlic bread for starters and bacon chop & salmon for mains.The starters were great, very tasty indeed but the mains weren't at the same standard my wife's noodles with salmon contained hard bits as if they weren't 'soaked' enough or maybe had been over-nuked. My bacon chop came with frozen chunky chips & hard poached eggs & quite bizarrely with salad!Ordinarily that wouldn't be enough for me to write off an eaterie but it was compounded by sub-standard hospitality.When you've shown someone to their table ask if they'd like a drink. I had to mention drinks after the waitress had taken our food order. I also had to ask for milk for my tea, neither did anyone come & ask if everything was okay.Don't get me wrong the ladies were pleasant enough but a professional waitering service was definitely absent.For a venue that's pitching itself as a gastro business it's got a lot of potential but failed to hit the mark for us.

Lovely decor inside and outside. Nice atmosphere with well distanced seating. Wide choice of cocktails and food was well presented and tasty.

- First thing you'll notice when you visit The Fat Boar is the staff, who are friendly and seem eager to make your stay an enjoyable one.- The inside is well decorated, and there's outside seating too, including a new construction of covered booths that provide ventilation but also have TVs, and heaters and blankets if it gets cold. Loved these (although better suited for drinks than food, as the tables are a bit too low to eat off).- There are decent wine and cocktail menus, and a small but select choice of draught beers/ciders/ales on tap.- And then the food. It's a pub, so it's pub food. But it's really nice pub food, and often as a twist that puts it above your standard pub grub!Overall, i really enjoyed my visit, and you will too!
