The Swallows Nest in Flintshire

Nice outdoor seating. I haven't been inside. Food was nice but not amazing. What you'd expect from a pub menu.

I took my Mom there for her 66th birthday today and we really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Lucy looked after us and was very attentive and friendly. I would definitely come again.

Visited today for lunch.Enjoyed sitting outside because of the weather.Food was lovely! Ordered olives to start which were delicious, the pork belly main and the jackfruit wrap. All presented and prepared lovely.Enjoyed the overall experience - did notice outside was quite untidy- there were at least 6 tables with plates and glasses on and no one sitting at them - however our plates were removed quite quickly which was good.Will return

Was just passing on a Sunday afternoon, weren't any availability inside but luckily the weather wasn't too bad so we were able to have a table outside.All ordered online via the app so I can't really comment on the service.Food was beautifully presented. Would like to return to try other items on the menu.

Never had a bad visit to the Swallows Nest. Prices aren't cheap but always a nice treat. 2 quality cocktails for £12 went down well though. Lovely to visit in the winter when the fires going or in the summer when the terrace with its view is a favourite. Food quality is good and look forward to returning

We found this place just off the M5 after coming back from a overnight break, & decided to pick due to other good reviews. We were definitely not disappointed, at all. On our arrival the pub was busy, but they were still able to accommodate us.For starters we chose the following; Duo of Pate, which was tasty & plenty of Pate too. The other was the Soup of the Day, this being mixed veg, very satisfying indeed.Finally for Main Course, we chose the following; Hunter’s Chicken Schnitzel, perfectly cooked & just the right portion size. And the other was the Spices Lamb Koftas, perfect seasoning, ingredients & layout.It was an obvious local favourite, & if we are coming by this way in the future, then we will definitely be stopping.

Very nice Valentines menu/meal on Valentines night ❤Food and service were exceptional. The staff were extremely friendly.Compliments also to the chef who got our steak spot on.You made our evening very special. Another wonderful experience at one of the vintage inn pub/restaurant chain group. I have been there before and it has only got better, lovely place, decor, staff and food, would highly recommend!

We have never been to The Swallows nest, however tonight we gave it a go. Inside the atmosphere was nice and the staff were very friendly. The steak was amazing and the pate, however the Calamari was bland. It was a little annoying being asked 5 or 6 times if everything was OK with the food, not sure if this is how the staff are trained? The big disappointment was the men's toilets desperately in need of a re vamp.Overall not too bad, but not amazing

The Swallows Nest pub is located in a quiet village; Easily accessible from the motorway. Locating the car park was difficult due to the lack of lighting or signage indicating where the car park is.The décor inside is modern but homely and gives a great first impression. We were greeted by the sight of a high end establishment. The staff were enthusiastic and friendly with a bar that was fully stocked and the atmosphere was a nice place to be but were a little unorganised at times but a pleasant experience overall. Waiting staff frequently checked if we required further drinks. The hand dryers in the toilets were a bit lackluster to use. The chairs used had some issues with one of my party where it had a big dip in the seat. Lighting was hanging off on the frame above our table. The team were a little slow in clearing empty glasses until the latter part of our visit. Two of the party were early and shown to a table which was quite wobbly during the night. The initial drinks took 20 minutes to arrive but had improved once the rest of the party had arrived.The salt and pepper calamari appearance wise it was light in colour with small bite sized chunks of calamari encased in a light tempura style batter. The calamari lacked in taste and we unfortunately could not taste any salt or pepper. Presentation wise it looked professional however. This was the same for the scallops and prawns. The duo of pate was lovely with warm bread and a ample portion.The majority of the food ordered today was served lukewarm or cold. It appeared that it had been sitting in the hot warmer for a while as opposed to being freshly prepared which ruined the taste somewhat.The Duo of Lamb was very appealing with the lamb rump sliced revealing a slightly pink cut of meat (just how I like it). The roasted carrots however were quite cold (and not been roasted for very long), which was an unpleasant contrast to the rest of the meal that was the right temperature. The shepherd’s pie was a lovely taste however could have benefited from a little extra meat. Most of the dish was made up of mashed potato.The burger and fries were cooked very well, decently portioned and well presented. However the cold, soggy onion rings adorning the plate, put a very sour taste to the dish overall. It had an interesting twist on the pulled pork in the burger. The Halloumi fries were a little salty but tasted nice. The seabass was lovely and well presented. The Hunters Chicken Schnitzel and tiple cooked chips was well cooked and piping hot.The cheesecake I ordered for dessert was extremely well made.The Crème Brule had a lovely creamy texture and a crisp caramelised top and an apricot compote at the bottom.Overall it was a 7/10. We would come again but plenty of room for improvement.
