I don’t understand the rave reviews. The food is subpar. Beautifully presented, but subpar. It’s a very limited 3 course menu. The meat was tough and dry. The vegetables had no flavour whatsoever and were over cooked. It was bland.14:00 is usually the time for last orders for the kitchen. That’s when our reservation was. I’d probably suggest making much earlier reservations when the food is fresher. Or if you can’t, then don’t eat breakfast and you’d be too hungry to not finish it.The grounds and views are absolutely beautiful. The upside is you get a complimentary voucher for entry to Portmeirion.

Lovely venue & staff were friendly. The food sadly let it down. The chicken was hard with an odd taste & texture, the vegetables were tasteless & the sticky toffee pudding was a bit dry. Disappointed

I recently went back & had dinner here, was so disappointed, since I visited in January it had changed, they have tried to make it more fancy and sadly failed, my plaice was tiny, slightly overcooked and ridiculously presented, it tasted fine but left feeling hungry. It's supposed to be a Brasserie, but they're trying to make it fine dining but without the talent in the kitchen to pull it off, wish they would go back to being a proper Brasserie and leave the fine dining to the other restaurant.Pleasant lunch and a nice atmosphere, good value set menu includes entry to the village. Nice way to spend an afternoon.

Excellent service from everyone. Great meal and lots of attention to my Daughters Coeliac condition. Deserts were fabulous, and the venue is stunning.

What an amazing place. Castle setting with beautiful gardens. Food is very very tasty and theres the bonus of free entry to Portmeirion. Outstanding

Ate here on a Friday evening; was an evening sitting, which means you are unlikely to get a spot in the conservatory, which is the best spot (imo). Food ok, not as great as expected, although my choice of pudding made up for it (warm treacle tart 👌). Nicely presented food though.

Covid has presented some organisations with some proper challenges. Restaurants in particular with reduced capacities and timid punters who won't come out to play yet were on the ropes until the chancellor bailed them with some tax-payers' hard earned cash. Since a two or three course Sunday lunch here gets you free entry into Portmeirion (a hearty £37 off my bill for the four of us if you're planning to visit anyway) it was a no-brainer that we should eat at the Brasserie. Currently you can only eat if you book in advance and by phone (no on-line booking is available) which I'd certainly recommend since we saw at least 3 couples turned down due to the place being fully booked up - great news for the restaurant if not so for the hungry lunch hunters. The menu is short (sirloin beef, braised lamb, roast chicken and trout with a couple of veggie options) but this is never a bad thing in my opinion since it allows the chef to focus on quality. I had the mussels, lamb and the cheese board. Although all the normal Covid restrictions are in place (particularly nice touch is the cutlery in its own wrappers declaring "your perfectly sanitised cutlery") none of it felt constrictive and the staff were brilliant at pretending they weren't all washing everything furiously between each handling of every plate they touched and made us feel welcome and well looked after. The quality is far above your best gastro pub but with modest prices (£20 for 2 courses, £30 for three with wines between £22-30 - bar the sparklings) and the four of us ate for £140 with drinks. We all need to get out and eat to save these businesses and I recommend this one whole-heartedly.

Absolutely beautiful food. It really was the best welsh lamb we’ve had. Service was very friendly and welcoming, and they really went above and beyond to surprise my wife for her 30th birthday.I’d highly recommend this unique place.

Fantastic food and service! Their lunch set is extremely value for money too (£20 for a 2 course and £25 for 3 courses), plus you get free entry to portmeirion village. Well worth the stop!
