Dining at the Brigands Inn in Gwynedd

Absolutely stunning room with exposed beams and a claw foot bath. Interesting and varied menu. Very dog friendly.

We stopped here on our way through to Tywyn. We were welcomed into such a beautiful pub. It was well laid out and the staff were all lovely; interacting with us all including our 8 month old baby. Thank you so much

Booked for lunch, arrived 1.30 receptionist told us to check in at bar… no staff in sight… eventually a surly waitress appeared delivering meals to other diners, no hello, no won’t keep you a moment, no communication whatsoever. Then a surly waiter appeared, again no communication at all. Waited 10 mins before being acknowledged by the waitress, menu’s thrown at us, your table is number 3 it’s through there, (find it yourself) basically. Had to ask passing waiter? Do we order at the bar or at the table? He said well are you ready to order now? We then waited 50 minutes 2.20pm for our order to be served…. Hats off to the chef, the food was delicious, having waited 50 minutes, we were not acknowledged at any point, no one came to see if we needed another drink, explain why wait was so long…. Just no communication at all. Such a disappointment as when we booked the guy in the phone was so personable and friendly. Such dreadful service in such lovely surroundings. Stopped there with motorhome without any notice (should have phoned first) told they were fully booked for meals. but we could wait they would try to fit us in .which they were able to. food was good .staff polite service good

Called in for lunch on Friday 2nd June. Very busy but queued up patiently in line for 15 minutes to order our food and drinks. When we reached the front of the line to be served we were asked quite abruptly if we were with the car rally. When i said no the barmaid then told me i could wait and proceeded to shout down the line " is anyone with the car rally ? Would you like to place your order next "....and proceeded to bring people at the back of the queue to the front. the car rally had not pre booked lunch ahead of time and had turned up un announced. as i heard the conversations between the guests when they were trying to sit together. They were all paying individually and not as a group which is why we waited so long to order. to say i was gobsmacked and completely embarrassed is an understatement. I immediately left as i could not believe the rudeness directed at myself and the other people also waiting patiently to be served. My partner and i have worked in hospitality for many years and could not quite believe this happened. Totally unacceptable

Stopped here for a Pint last September with a Mate. I would love to book a room for a few days at some point because the Views of the Surrounding Hills are Absolutely Stunning and it's in the Heart of the Mach Loop, Used by RAF and American Topgun Pilots. Gorgeous part of Mid Wales and Snowdonia X

We went here on the final night of our mini moon as a treat. We'd driven past it previously & thought it looked nice so we checked out the menu online & decided it sounded like our kind of place.We couldn't fault the staff, they were really nice. However, the food was absolutely horrendous! My partner & I ordered starters, only his came out. I sat & watched him finish his hoping that mine would appear as we were starving. It didn't, but staff were no where to be seen while he was eating so unless I'd have gone looking for someone there was no way to ask for it. I decided to not cause a fuss and that I'd just ask for it knocking off at the end.Our mains were brought out rapidly after the starter plate was cleared, along with my starter dish! We had high hopes for the food but we were so disappointed. I ordered the steak & ale pie, it was a much smaller pie than I have had previously in other establishments, it was burnt, there was hardly any meat in the pie & what meat was in it was fatty. I couldn't taste ale in the pie or the gravy & the vegetables that it was served with were so hard it was as if they were raw.The Garlic bread (my starter) that we had was the single most disgusting thing I have ever put in my mouth! I don't like salt, I don't add it to any of my meals - biting in to this was like I was just eating salt. It was absolutely horrendous. My partner is the opposite to me & adds salt to every meal, so I asked him to try it wondering if it was just me. He also said it was the saltiest thing he'd ever put in his mouth, it was vile. That ended up getting left.My partners main course was also a massive let down. Having been talked in to the lamb dish by staff who were bigging it up, he decided to order the lamb (at £24 not a cheap dish, but as the last night of our mini moon it was meant to be a treat). When it arrived it was again a tiny portion, I couldn't believe the cost for such a small dish. It was also over cooked & dry. So dry my partner couldn't eat it & most of it went to our dog. His vegetables were also hard the same as mine.At this point we decided to not even bother risking deserts & just head home. Both still hungry from the lack of edible food we'd been served but not really wanting to go anywhere else as we'd just spent just shy of £70 on what was a massive disappointment (2 pepsi/ in that as well, no alcohol).We also felt like we were being rushed, although I'm not sure why we were the only couple in there dining (should have told us everything we needed to know really). We were only in the place 38 minutes from start to finish! This made the atmosphere incredibly awkward, it was pin silent & we felt like we couldn't even have a conversation with each other.I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. I was so upset from this experience, as it was supposed to be a special evening. I wish we'd have saved our money & gone elsewhere.

Stopped for lunch with a large group of fellow porsche owners. They made us feel very welcome and provided us with a warming soup and some really yummy sandwiches. Was very impressed with the place. Thank you.

We didn't stay overnight, but would love too. Our parents lived in Machynlleth for several years when they retired.They frequently went to the Inn. Yesterday we buried their ashes in the cemetery in Machynlleth and went to The Brigands Inn to celebrate their life. The buffet provided was lovely with exceptional staff.The setting was so homely.Thank you all from our family .

Stayed the weekend, here first night we dined at the hotel the service was awful, the lamb was nice but nothing to write home about, piece of lamb dumped on the top of some mash potato with some apparently roasted vegetable's hidden underneath was not at all worth £24, and the staff spent more time chatting to friends by the bar than serving table, drinks ordered needed reminding as did pudding menu, twice before 20 minutes later arriving a lukewarm crumble and custard.Overall the hotel was clean apart from mould in bathroom and paint cracked away from walls in our room.Would i stay here again ? No, there are better hotels for £125 a night, it is not a 4 star hotel in my opinion they need to do better.
