Mash & Barrel in Gwynedd

Best avoided for food, expensive for basically microwave pub grub.ok for drinks.

We read the reviews before going here and were in two minds about it, but we've been before years ago and can't remember any of the problems.Staff were fine, could have been a touch more attentive and we would have ordered more drinks.There were some meals unavailable, but signs explaining this (tesco round the corner has no issues) The 1st 3 things I picked couldnt have, so I did Have a rump steak and it was spot on, cooked exactly right and seasoned very well, all food hot and out in 15mins.Overall would go again.

Absolutely disgusting, Massively overpriced, Out of 7 people 3 orders came correct, Paid £5.50 for 4 tiny little chicken wings seen more meat on a toothpick.Mash looked like playdoughOrdered dirty chips that came wrong and when i re ordered it took too long that I cancelled them, Dont waste your time or money on this place.

Staff not bad,food was disgusting ordered steak pie mash peas as they had no broccoli left,no flavour on food,mash horrible pie was like rubber,and gravy like water,wouldn't reccomend.

We visited the outdoor eating area yesterday with our 8 week old baby and 1 year old. We had no cover and therefore when it started to rain we were told by a lovely waiter that we could move to a table with a parasol.When the waiter explained to the more senior member of staff (Male) that he was moving us due to the rain, the managers response was that he wasn’t allowed, and even when our waiter explained we had 2 small children, the managers response was that it didn’t matter.Another table close by were told they could also move to the shelter, only later for another senior member of staff (Female) to confront them rudely telling them they weren’t allowed to move, which wasn’t their fault at all.Overall the young male waiter serving us was extremely polite and understanding. However this experience all being a shame as we visit here often.

Such a shame! Ordered sirloin for myself and steak pie for the hubby.My steak and his pie were cooked perfectly and served hot but the chips were barely warm and the carrots were like minature wooden bullets....dreadful.!! and the peas were cold too. Generally not a good experience.

After seeing the reveiws put on here on here. I was unsure whether to go ahead with our booking. But im glad we did as we really enjoyed our experience.The restaurant was nice and clean.The meals were served within 45mins and were all hot and tasty. our waitress was Heather and was very nice and attentive and nothing was too much trouble for her.I would recommend going and trying it for yourself

You wait forever to be served, Our food came out fairly quickly to be fair.My friends son found sharp plastic in his food which wasn’t nice but she was given a refund and an apology.Machines for milkshakes don’t work half the time, Puddings are nice but I recommend getting off the kids menu as just as good and much cheaper!Man who cooks pizzas is rude. Fab to sit outside while kids play in the park.Over priced for what you get on meals for sure!Happy holidays 😎

Absolutely shocking food. I should have been paid to eat what they served. The staff are clueless but friendly. I’ve now been sat here 20 minutes with the bill on my table and my bank card on it, waiting for a member of staff to take payment. Nobody seems to give a toss. Trash and Barrel seems more appropriate.

Awful.Waited 20 mins but notified so accepted this. Food arrived. Onion rings doughy due to lack of cooking. Chips luke warm and soft. We did get a replacement of onion rings, when handling the bowl we could feel food on it which we could pick off.Totally over priced too. I'm an owner here and have only eaten here in an emergency. This time the oven went down at burger king. Had we not both had a drink I would have driven anywhere else.Don't waste your money!!!
