Long queue but we'll worth the wait, cannot fault the food at all, will defo use it again when we go back to barmouth, friendly staff

The best fish and chips in the Uk. I have been visiting the area for the last 20 years and no trip is complete without a visit to the Mermaid. Always a queue but only to be expected with the quality of food on offer.

Absolutely wonderful. Best fish & chips ever. Chips were truly unbelievable! I don't even like fish, but I thoroughly enjoyed it here. Portions are very full and you couldn't ask for a better spot to eat

As usual fantastic fresh cooked fish and chips. Batter nice and crispy and dry. Staff are very efficient despite queuing out the door and down the street the queue moved quickly. Coming back here again soon so will call in again.

Smallest sausages I've ever seen in a chipper, scollops were hard and dry.Saying that, it is a popular shop, I may have chosen the wrong items off the menu, should have gone for the fish n chips, they looked good.Slightly expensive but the packaging is top quality so you can eat in the van without getting grease everywhere so worth the extra on the price.Girl serving was very nice.

Fantastic fish and chips were very tasty.Would have given 5 stars if the potatoes/chips were the type that had a flavour. The chips were very nice but could have been a better good size though. Fish tasty, batter crispy but not well done, cooked to perfection. Seemed to only get a half-sized fish. Both fried fresh. Fish and chips £6.50The owner was very friendly. He came to our table and chatted with us. Shared his mini eggs chocolate with us as well.

Best chippy on Barmouth bar none!! Don't waste your time going anywhere else. The cues say it all. Lovely chips that have got good colour on them so properly cooked and the fish is to die for! This is the only place I go to when I come to Barmouth. The portions are great size and for £3.15 for small mini fish and chips is great value! And just enough to fill you up if you don't have a huge appetite. Just a stones throw away from the beach, so grab your food and grab a bench by the sea front and enjoy! And with a 5 star hygiene rating why would you go anywhere else?!

It was very busy but the staff were really friendly. It was 9pm and the only place open that we could find. We had the SFC pieces and battered sausage, very tasty. Definitely recommend.
