Wedding there was beautiful!Spa small but relaxing!Lake views and food great especially breakfast, steak ploughman's lunch and burgers! My room with balcony view was lovely with four poster bed!Disabled facility is a parking space right outside entrance door and no lifts otherwise given five stars!

Superb Location, with spectacular views. Service was good, but in some respects not great, generally good. Rooms large and very well appointed, food good but not 5*. Would definitely go back just for the views across the lake, we even saw a Hercules plane do a low fly by!

Will always have a massive place in my heart for this hotel, we got married here. A perfect backdrop to say "I do", food is always amazing, service on point and always helpful. Can't say a bad word, definitely recommend.

Wow, 4 night stay was amazing , staff so friendly and helpful, attended a wedding on the Saturday, the food was superb , had 2 days shooting on the clay ground which was very enjoyable , good, well thought out targets and both instructors very friendly and helpful, with a great sense of humour. Love the fact that it is so dog friendly with lots of lovely walks on the door step. Have stayed here now on several occasions and every visit is so enjoyable. I will be booking again very shortly . Thankyou to all the staff for all their hard work, and making the visit so enjoyable.

I'll preface what is going to be an deservedly positive review by mentioning that our visit was blessed with brilliant weather for the time of year (March 2022).This was a birthday trip for my partner and we both left over the moon with our choice of hotel. The natural surroundings of this venue are stunning, improved by the man-made i.e. the dam, reservoir and cherry-on-the-cake, Rapunzel-esque straining tower, all with a mildly interesting history. Panoramic views available from virtually the whole hotel (don't even consider a non-lake view room) give an arresting, Black Forest aesthetic we didn't quite get over for our whole stay. The hotel is late Victorian and proudly sustains that aesthetic where it's tasteful with modern touches as required. Our room had a gargantuan four poster bed, french polished furniture and a private balcony with that view. Staff were invariably lovely.Afternoon tea on the terrace on arrival was generous and done properly - share one between two if it's not your lunch!Spa facilities are excellent - treatments are the going rate, and the £10 extra for entry to the general 'thermal' spa well worth it.We had a brief drink in the 'brasserie' bar which is much more casual/family friendly. It didn't serve food while we stayed.Dinner was delicious and reasonably priced - two minor criticisms around the steak main. This place falls into the trap erring on the side of well done with steaks - lay it on thick if you actually want rare. The chips were cooked too quickly too hot and I had a couple of bigger ones raw in the middle. Hopefully an isolated error and didn't detract much from my otherwise clean plate.Overall I struggle to speak highly enough of this venue. The unique location, style and quality really must be experienced if you're considering it.

A very special couple of days just ourselves. Staff first rate. Food and service 5 star. The room with balcony and view sealed perfectly our stay. Great professional attendance with the Spa treatments. Will plan to visit again. Thank you

Lovely hotel providing stunning views, good service and great food.We stayed here previously (preCovid) and thoroughly enjoyed the overall experience. The COVID restrictions did impact on our stay this time. The breakfast service whilst OK was not as good as the previous buffet service. Hopefully things will change back to how it was before? All in all a great experience!

Absolutely magical stay at this hotel! It was our 6th anniversary and it was so relaxing and special to have spent it here. The staff were fantastic throughout and even left us a card congratulating us! Couldn't recommend visiting here more if I tried.

Just had a magical few days here. Lovely room with balcony and lake view. All staff were very welcoming and helpful. Food was great. Best full body massage I have ever had. Lovely to sit in the jacuzzi with a stunning view of the lake. A very special place.
