White Lion Royal Hotel in Gwynedd

We are very impressed with the hotel/bar and the services provided at this price point. I’m renovating a property in Bala and have stayed here many times whilst we are working at my property. Food is nice, it’s a pleasant big grand property and for the money we pay offers excellent value. I’ve been lucky to stay at many nice hotels so I’m comparing on price in this area, for under £100 for the three of us I can’t fault the White Lion.

Disappointed if they want customers they need to buck up their ideas.Cannot get through directly to Hotel, why? Answer; No one on the desk!! The hotel is dilapidated, our bathroom ceiling dripped water, very curious! I will say our bed was clean and comfortable. Food very mediocre. Fish and chips good. The young man Danny who helped us as we arrived was the star of the show. He was every where doing everything. He needs a BIG RISE.It was not expensive however, you get what you pay for.Anita

This hotel was absolutely lovely. The staff were very kind and caring. Always in good spirits and went above and beyond to help us. Will be happy to stay here again!

We had a Sunday lunch here and we couldn't have been made to feel any more welcome!!! Veggie option was more than my wife could manage but being a dog friendly pub, ours was able to finish off the extra gravy we had requested and then been presented with! An old style pub/hotel but modern management principles! Please visit and enjoy :-)

Stopped for a drink after 14 mile walk in the hills! Lovely place with lots of separate rooms and nice chairs and settees. Definitely the pub to go to in Bala. (Did not stay in hotel)

I'm writing a food review. The bar staff were very accommodating and gracious. The food was lovely but a 40 minute wait for dessert was unbelievable!! The manager was apologetic but with a smile on his face. Extremely disappointing!!! Will not be re-visiting!! Obnoxious manager!!

Great pub classic meals with superb taste and value for money.The place has such character, quirky.Good friendly staff ☺️

Popped in for an early dinner with friends and our dogs. The Lion is fully dog friendly and provided treats and a bowl of cool water for the small furry friends. Good selection of beers, well kept. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food well prepared and of good quality.. Served hot. Will return.

Very friendly staff, good pub food and very good prices. The room was spacious and well presented. The bathroom was in need of some work unfortunately but all in all a pleasant stay.

Staff: very friendly and helpful. Hotel: Excellent, homely, warm and clean. Room: Big and clean. Shower was amazing and hot. Bed was very cosy and crammed full of pillows which I loved. Drinks at the bar were a reasonable price, no waiting times. The only down fall I would say was the food. The steak was cold and the salad that was ordered didn't have much to it, it was fresh though. They had a gluten free menu however chips cooked in same fryer so cross contamination would've occurred. All in all I'd say 8/10 - would stay there again.
