Tyn y Capel Inn & Restaurant in Wrexham

Not sure who's making the decisions these days but way too much space is given over to the dining area which is only ever busy on Sundays. More often than not this leaves the bar area overly crowded. It also doesn't help that the staff spend a lot of their time chatting to each other in the dining area when it isn't busy and seemingly oblivious to customers are waiting to be served in the bar area. They should have it like it used to be or at the very least have one member of staff permanently stationed in the bar section, or perhaps a bell for attention? Otherwise it's a nice enough pub, although they constantly run out of the real ales, leaving just lager/Guinness/John Smiths on tap 50% of the time, how they can't get their ordering right is beyond me?! 🤷 Plus it's noticeably more expensive than other pubs in the area. Feels like you're paying for the views/location but being let down by the lack of beer and poor service. Additionally glass collection in the outside seating area leaves a lot to be desired as quite often looks a shambles, staff too busy chatting no doubt 🙄 Overall 3/5 primarily because of its location.

Went for lunch midweek and can't fault the service or the food. Amazing value for money. I had Katsu chicken curry, the dish wad filled with succulent chicken and loads of veg. Not only did you get rice, but also mini poppadoms and two mini naan breads. My friend had Black n blue chicken which also looked delicious and again her plate was well loaded. Highly recommend a visit.

This year my husband and I decided to go to a nice restaurant on Boxing Day for dinner. Our choice fell on the Tyn-y-Capel.We were definitely encouraged by the price of a great set, for a three-day meal we paid £ 22.95 per person. The restaurant is located in the new part added to the old pub building. A quite attractive place, from the windows you can admire the beautiful panorama of the mountains. It was already dark and foggy (we will definitely come back to see this view for sure). The place is refreshed but rather modestly decorated. We did not wait too long for the meal, the staff has a little communication problem because earlier I sent our selection of the set by e-mail and on the spot it turned out that they do not know anything about it in the kitchen. For us, it was not a problem, we chose what we wanted once again, but in the future the hosts should pay attention to it, because maybe someone will write to them with some special dietary recommendations, etc.First class starter, we liked it very much. Main course ok but somehow nothing special and delicious cheesecake for dessert.The place is very clean, a bit off the beaten track so there are no crowds here.

Excellent service, good food and reasonable prices. We stayed at the hideaway pod just up the road. Really good service even though they were short staffed. Extra drinks arrived as soon as we asked. Because very often, in my experience if you ask for another drink it just gets forgotten about. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely family Christmas meal last night. The children were given a goody bag each when they arrived. The food was gorgeous & the staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. Well done to the whole team there for making our visit special.

Went today as a party of 10 booked well in advance. Had to ask for someone to come and take order.Told straight away no cauliflower cheese. Starters were lovely, main roast itself lovely. A little more variety with veg would of been nice. Had to ask for sauces 3 times to go with main meal, meal was nearly eaten by the time they had come. Granddaughter waited for tomato sauce for ages, then told they had run out. Meal was going cold as she waited. Kids love ketchup. Then had to ask twice for someone to take the pudding order. Very disappointing visit today

Lovely pub with a really nice atmosphere & do a great Sunday roast. Amazing views too.

This place has lovely staff, fantastic views and incredible food. Highly recommend to anyone! Enjoy!

Wow! Beautiful pub set in the stunning scenery of Nth Wales. If you are lucky to have a beautiful summer evening as we did the view is spectacular.

Fabulous place. Lovely views and really nice food. The staff are all happy smiley courteous and helpful. You really can't go wrong here.
