BLOCKS Steakhouse in Allerdale

My 10 oz burger was fine but my son let me try his ribeye steak. It was very tough to chew and was not a great taste either. It was probably the worst steak I had tasted in a long time. I wondered why he had left his steak and obviously the proof was in the eating. Being Irish I think I know a fair amount about good quality steaks.I have since spoken to others who have used this restaurant and they confirmed the steaks were poor quality.

Lovely place to eat. They fitted us in at short notice on a busy Thursday night. Food and service was very good. Would happily go back if we were in the area.

Went to BLOCKS for the first time last night and was impressed. I had the 8oz fillet, ordered M/R, and it was cooked to perfection. Chips, slaw and Stilton sauce were all excellent too. Gluten free options were also good, especially the chocolate brownie. Complimentary bread before our mains was a pleasant surprise. Staff were friendly and attentive. The only disappointment was that the milkshakes weren't available - only told this after my wife ordered one. Would have been better if we had been informed on being seated. Overall, great experience and we will be visiting again.

Absolutely AMAZING meal, best meal myself and my wife have had in years - empty chopping board did have homemade cheese bread with homemade garlic butter as can be see it didn't last long enough to take a picture, and let's not mention the beef bon-bons, steak and halloumi out of this world, would happily drive the 4+ hours from home to eat here again, and shout out to Jack our waiter who was an star and couldn't do enough for us.

Initially seemed pricey, but price includes 2 sides and a sauce which is comparable with other restaurants. We all had fillet steaks and they were cooked to perfection and definitely the best steak we've ever tasted. Mushrooms, chips and chunky slaw all really tasty. Deserts were generous and flavoursome. Staropramen lager really good plus locally produced beer and good choice of gins. Staff were happy to bring in a surprise birthday cake for my daughter which I'd left with them earlier in the day and a number of staff all walked through singing 'Happy Birthday to you' when they produced the cake, causing several guests to join in too!! Really lovely gesture. Staff were attentive and lovely. Thoroughly enjoyable evening which I'd highly recommend and will definitely return soon.

A great evening meal! Fabulous choice of drinks, gorgeous complimentary bread which was exceptionally full of flavour and left feeling full! The mixed platter for start was delicious and a great mix of the available starters to share! Overall meal was delicious, flavoursome & filling, all along with great service from the staff. Reasonably priced food - £26 fillet steak with 2 sides and a sauce. For the locality and the quality we were happy to pay that bit more

Stunning food. Fantastic atmosphere. Beyond friendly staff.I had a fillet steak and it had to be one of the tastiest Steaks I've ever had. he creamed leek and bacon side was to die for and the Mac and cheese was delicious! Would go back in a heart beat!

Absolutely beautiful meal at blocks.Staff were very friendly, attentive and informative.Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant (with a great choice of music) ad food was cooked to perfection. Could not fault it!Will definitely come back again when I’m next up in the area!

I came here last week with my family. It was my second time at Blocks Steakhouse and we had a wonderful evening. Our server was very friendly and welcoming, and made sure we had everything we needed. I ordered 8oz fillet steak with teriyaki sauce, sweet potato bites and creamy leeks and bacon and all was delicious! Best steak I've had to be honest. I will absolutely return!

We booked last minute and came for a rare child free meal! Was well worth it!! We had a bread board to start, stilton and bacon with a garlic and thyme butter. We wernt sure what to expect, but it was very nice. Then we had a shared platter for a starter. The beef bon bons were a highlight for me and the cumberland sausage in honey glaze was my partners. There was a Wagyu steak special on tonight, so we decided to go for that. It was sooo good, I cant praise it enough. Massive compliments to the chef. We ordered a pudding each as well, my partner said the new york cheesecame was light and a perfect finish to his meal and my brownie was everything you want from a brownie crisp on the outside and gooey in the middle!! Bit much for me after our feast though! All in all it was an oustanding meal, made better by the great service by all staff we encountered especially our waiter Jack, who was on the ball and at hand. Speedy service all round, will definately be back!!
