Galloping Horse in Allerdale

Lovely food, large portions, friendly staff and a really nice atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit.

Always enjoyed a meal at the galloping horse however today’s lunch wasn’t very enjoyable and it was expensive for what we wanted.For some reason sandwiches are no longer offered at lunchtime which forces you to order from the main menu, we got the closest things to a sandwich (Philly cheese steak ciabatta and southern fried chicken burger) each being around £15!Despite asking for my Philly cheese sandwich to come without mustard (and peppers but apparently “they come in the mix” so I had to live with them), it came covered in mustard but we had waited long enough so I didn’t bother sending it back and just ate around it, it was just a bit of a sloppy mess on soggy bread unfortunately - the chips were nice though!I’m not sure what’s changed here; whether it’s the chef or ownership etc. but I don’t think I’ll be rushing back anytime soon.

Wow. How impersonal can a bar get. Friendly staff do their best in the most unwelcoming and food (only!) orientated atmosphere. Did their best in a menu that came straight out of a Wetherspoons.

Excellent pub-restaurant with wonderful food. We really enjoyed it and looking forward to the next visit.

Food was very good indeed and service seemed to be up to scratch too. Pleasantly surprised!

Good nice food and nice looking pub amazing steak and ale pie and lasagna

BIG disappointment. Bar person totally ignored me, too busy on their phone.Food when it eventually arrived, presentation was diabolical, looked like left overs from another meal. You live and learn

Came new years eve had 3 course Xmas Dinner garlic mushrooms to start with then beef dinner then pavlova for dessert delicious .. partner had steak pie and chips the chips were best ive had ... staff were wonderful.. will be back soon

Nice place to go for food. Its a shame we had to wait over an hour to get our food.then once ordered the drinks took so long to arrive on the table when they were sat on the bar! More staff?

Enjoyed our meal and the service was brilliant. Would of been 5 star but got a sticky toffee pudding and its the 1st time I've had it cold always thought it was hot or at least warm.
