Golden Lion Bar and Restaurant in Allerdale

I would like to say massive THANK YOU for all lovely and kind staff who served for our Holy Communiom Family meal

We've been to Maryport many times but this is the first time we've been in The Golden Lion. We called in for lunch and it was delicious, the service was excellent and very polite and friendly.I can't comment on the rooms because we've not stayed here but the restaurant, bar area and facilities are immaculate and modern so I assume the rooms upstairs are the same. Definitely come here again when next in Maryport.

My son's treat for father's day, must say it was clean and tidy service was great with a good variety of food to choose from. I had the salmon with the sauce and it was beautiful so would definitely recommend and I will be back to try something else on the menu...

This hotel is a bit understated in an any website you look at! It is an excellent hotel, not just good; great attentive staff, superb breakfast, and the fish and chips dinner was simply magnificent. You can't beat freshly caught fish, in my opinion. Some websites state that guests don't get towels nor soap in some rooms. This is UNTRUE. Hotel.com needs to update their facts. There is an excellent bar with a wide choice of beers/lagers. Four of us had just completed a 52 miles cycle trip from Carlisle, so this bar was a very welcome sight! Bedrooms were immaculate and the beds comfortable. HIGHLY recommend this hotel.

Amazing views from our room! Very friendly staff and a clean, comfortable room. Food was also quite good, we had dinner and a couple breakfasts there and everything was great.

We found this place by accident but it was so good we went back a couple of days later. The best advice I can give is ask for a small portion. The meals are HUGE! Even if you're starving you'll struggle to eat it all. The price doesn't reflect the size of meal either which is incredible. We had 2 meals and drinks for less than £33.

Second time we have been for food and waited over an hour whilst other folk were served after arriving after ourselves. Expressed my disappointment and left without eating.Shall not be returning.

Stopped over for one night.Such a lovely hotel and so tidy and modern inside.Staff excellent.Rooms and pretty good size and modern decor. Great view of harbour, lighthouse and hill of Scotland.If you don't like stairs, do ask for lower level.Local to all amenities. And sone good walks.Parking for several cars on site, but plenty street parking available and parking on harbour.
