Always wanted to come and stay here and so glad I did! Lovely old building with lots of character. Greeted by lovely and friendly staff. Food was delicious and our room for two nights was lovely bright and clean. Would recommend and I'm definitely going back! 😊

Wasn't staying at the hotel but wanted to take my Mum to the King's Head after she had visited previously years ago. She's not in good health so I checked the website first to ensure they served food all day.Website states Lunch Menu served 12-4.30 then an evening menu starting around 5.30.We arrived at 3.20ish.Found a lovely table in the garden and there was a menu on the table that stated once again the food serving times.Went in the pub to order, the barman said you're not wanting to order food are you?(No I'm just standing here with a menu for nothing 🤦‍♀️) I said yes and he said we aren't serving food now.Apparently even though it states on the website and on the menus that are all over the pub that food is served all day it isn't.They used to, when the menus were printed.Change them then? Change the website? Two stars for the beautiful garden and location

Stopped for a meal after long walk around Thirlmere. Dog friendly which was perfect for us. I had steak & kidney pie, husband had pork, both were delicious and portions are huge. Very friendly service.

Friendly staff, they managed to squeeze us in for a meal. They were really busy and dealt with everyone in quick time. Great place to chill and have a beer as well. If lucky to get a nice day, then their outside benches are great.

Stayed here this Easter Bank holiday. What a little gem of a place, lovely room with a massive bed. Staff are so friendly and worked so hard to make everyone happy and welcomed. And the food is lovely we ate the steak one night and the lamb on an other. Will be back one day x

Lovely hotel. Don’t be put off by the upstairs corridors. The rooms are much nicer than the corridor implies! Atmosphere, staff and food all fantastic. Don’t follow sat nav. Use what three words ///different.mills.opened

Superb location and brilliant staff. The restaurant food alone is well worth travelling for.The real ales are well kept and the bar staff knowledgeable. Some of the rooms are a bit compact.

I visited the King’s Head for a quick weekend trip with a friend and we wished we had come for longer! The staff are so lovely and we felt truly welcome. The room was really clean and comfortable and the highlight of the stay was definitely the food, which was absolutely delicious. We were late arriving because of the Friday night traffic and they could not have been more welcoming, we really appreciated all their efforts. The location is perfect for walks.

We stayed here for 2 nights (as a couple)I will start by saying the the location of the hotel it’s really good, close to Keswick and Ambleside(10 minutes drive to both locations) and almost in the middle of Lake District. We were in a 35 minutes drive to all the locations we wanted to go.Our room was facing the road and the view was amazing (you can see Raven Crag in all his beauty)The room was really,we had a wardrobe, iron and iron board as well, kettle, coffee, tea, pretty much all you need for a nice staying. The food was amazing and it’s really convenient that they have a restaurant in the hotel. The staff were professional and friendly all the time(big plus here). And the price for 2 nights we payed was really good as well(definitely a lot cheaper the everything else around there)Only con that i we found, out bathroom was a bit small, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t clean and we had everything that we needed.Definitely enjoyed out stay here and definitely will be our first choice when we visit Lake District again.

Really really nice, just a star off as we were told breakfast was just £4 if we wanted to add it when we arrived. We were going to nip into Keswick for breakfast and a walk so hadn't planned to eat in the morning but it seemed like a great deal. Unfortunately on check out we were charged £12.00 per person, no real explanation we were just told we'd been given the wrong information on check in. Left a bit of a sour taste as when I was first presented the bill they'd missed breakfast off altogether and it was only because I mentioned it (we own a restaurant and would like to think people are honest like this with us) that we paid for it at all.Lovely isolated place though, good food, great service, nice bar and really clean throughout. Staff are super friendly and obviously enjoy working here as well. Rooms really quirky and clean.
