The Castle Bar in Allerdale

We were staying around the corner for a short break and this was our nearest pub after a long drive. It became the only pub we visited in Cockermouth after our first visit. The pub is lovely and far bigger than it looks when you first go in, set over several levels. The staff are welcoming and efficient and the beer well kept. I would highly recommend this pub for a drink or two.

Amazing food great staff will visit again

Whent for sunday dinner and we were not disappointed food is out of this world. Probably one of the best sunday dinners I've had the place is amazing and full of history 5* all the way. If there was a down side is staff could do with being more attentive and we had to ask to get a drink order same with food and dessert.

We had a delicious meal here in the upstairs dining room. The atmosphere was warm and friendly with great service and a tasty menu. Prices were reasonable and menu varied. Booking at weekend is recommended.

Booked table, turned up at what I thought was correct time which was 45 mins late. They managed to find my granddaughter and me a table. Gorgeous lasagne and Sunday dinner

Beautiful food in gorgeous surroundings! Well worth booking for this gem of a place. Very good service and the main meal was so big I couldn't entertain a pudding, which was a shame. Tucked away just off the main street. Definitely will revisit when we're next in the area.

Just had a lovely family meal , very good quality food warm welcoming would certainly recommend. Steak pie was delicious, children's meals good portions too , presentation nice too which makes all the difference.
