The Codfather in Allerdale

Firstly it's a fish and chip shop 5hat had no fish, which they only tell you after you've waited in a queue to order. Then they tell you your order will take 20 min to prepare, but that was more like 45 - 55 min and then the chips were a black brown colour, the fish cakes tasteless. Bad quality and terrible service and they were quiet at the time so heaven help you if they were busy. Such a shame 😞

I have been here many times,but the last few times have been just average not amazing, this will be the final time I will visit,as after waiting twice as long as I was told(which I don’t mind as you know it’s fresh) and buying an extra 3 drinks I was refused just 2 forks unless I paid 5p each! Now having no cash left and one of the orders being chips ,cheese and gravy, I had to ask the kind man on the next table if we could borrow 10p which he didn’t have,so he let us tap his card for 10p ,utter joke and I feel embarrassed for them .

Used to be amazing with massive portions of fish,but the last couple of times it’s been disappointing,and told it will be half an hour to find it’s over an hour, the after waiting an hour paying £18 I am told I can’t have a fork unless I give them another 5p a fork! This place must have changed hands in the last couple of years

First time here, told 40 minute wait, I waited for over an hour, had kids screaming as they were getting crabbit, I'd find somewhere else to eat as this place doesn't deserve the business. Also other people turning up and not getting served as they said they had a backlog, this place has the potential but is being let down terribly by whoever is running the place. STAY CLEAR

Didn't get anything as there was a wait of 30 minutes for chips only?? And up to 45 minutes for a sausage to go with them it used to be a fantastic little chippy I'm wondering if it as changed owners?? 🤔🤔 😊

Was so looking forward to fish and chips. Waited 25 minutes to place my order. Just like to say it was not busy. Finally got the order 40 minutes later. The price is on the high side. Went back to the car to eat them only to find everything was over cooked which made it very dry and the taste of the oil was burnt very very disappointing

I would just like to say to anyone not to go to this chippy, waited about half hour for our order only to find it was wrong , everything drowned in grease and burnt, also I seen more fish on a fish finger than the fish we got , absolutely poor service as they didn’t seem to have anything that people were asking for , extremely dissatisfied and will definitely not use again

A local institution in Allonby. All food is cooked to order, so the wait times can get long in the busy Summer months. Fish is invariably good; especially if they have cod available. Chips usually of a good standard, but there have been the odd occasions, where they have been soggy.

Small portions, long wait times (30mins) and expensive for what you get. Can't recommend unfortunately.Edited: apparently I 'chose' the wrong option when I ordered a 'portion of fish and chips', and this means you automatically get the 'light bites' option. I'd advise that you are very specific when ordering here.
