The George in Allerdale

Lovely atmosphere and delicious food. Only comment might be that the portions are really huge and felt there was a lot of waste. Cut the size down a bit and it would be perfect.

Cozy country pub. Can’t fault the decor. Nice pub food with large portions. Very friendly staff. Dog friendly. Free Wi-Fi available. Can’t fault it. 5 star pub.

What a pie! Legendary I used to chef here 30 years ago so I'm biased buy it's still excellent. Love the bar area.

Generous portions. Vast choice on the menu. We always choose the cow pie though as it's so good! Now dog friendly in the restaurant so will definitely be visiting again. A big tick from us ✅

Will always be my favourite inn in Keswick. I've been a patron for 60 years and like the fact it hasn't changed much in that time. Some won't appreciate the tired old furniture, carpets and curtains but if that keeps the snobby tourists out all the better. Wholesome grub, good beer, there's a restaurant for the posh/residents but I've obviously never been in it.

YUMMY!!!!!We had a table booked at 'The George' for our last night in Keswick and it was literally everything we hoped for and more.Staff and service is impeccable, we had a lovely lady (Didn't get her name, she was Irish) who was so friendly and knew her stuff about the menu when we looked it over.We both went for the famous Cow Pie, half portion though, and we made the HUGE mistake of having starters. Mistake because of the size of the main dish, but no regrets as the Nachos and Garlic bread are devine!You're getting a bargain here, that Cow Pie is filled to the brim, with tender and juicy beef, with a great amount of gravy and home made chips, like real chips!Booking is a MUST, especially over a weekend as this place is well know, rightfully so.

A favourite of mine in Keswick. Hearty food served in big portions. I have had the pleasure to try both of their signature pie variants (cow and farmhouse) - both were ace. Unless you are a complete glutton, I would suggest the half portion of either is enough.

The food is always good, decent portions, good price you never leave hungry, the staff are attentive. There have been so many places come and go in keswick it is nice to have somewhere that is steadfast in what they offer a great choice home cooked high quality food. In over ten years this place has never failed to provide quality, taste, value and great service.

First night on our break in the Lakes and tradition means we always eat at The George. Food is always great. Staff lovely and good service. 1/2 portion of Cow pie is not for the faint hearted!

We stopped here after a 4h hike so the appetite we had must have made the food taste even better than it does, but it really was amazing. I had the veggie curry which came with a side of pickles, unusual but very nice actually and my hubby had the gammon steak with a delicious peppercorn sauce! The staff on very polite and efficient and the ambient nice. I would defenetly come back if in the neighbourhood
