We decided to go here late afternoon as it said it was open until 5. Our cream tea was served in takeaway boxes as they had switched the dishwasher off, it was 4.10pm. An elderly man who had walked 10 miles stopped wanting a brew and was told "we're closed", it was 4.30pm. She didn't even offer to make him a quick brew. There were members of staff at the time. On a positive, the location is lovely and the cake selection looked amazing, just the service letting them down here.

Fantastic little place, food was really lovely and staff super friendly. Perfect for lunch after a walk through the forest.

·

Food delicious and staff wonderful. Shame about the person with the dog.

Had a lovely lunch there, really enjoyed it.

First class jam scones, third class coffee.Ok the notice board outside advises on why there may not be as quick a service as people would like and that some items may be missing from the menu.Very helpful if you're expecting a large lunch but hey the clues in the name right? To be fair, I didn't try the tea so sorry. Really though the cream jam scones were divine and that's from my wife who is the scone expert.

Brilliantly positioned within some fantastic walks, great food and drinks. I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the fact their prices take advantage of the fact they have a monopoly. £5.60 for 3 500ml bottles of water. But if the profits go to the forestry commission then I don't mind I guess

This is a must visit!!! Super friendly staff, the best coffee for miles and don't get me started on the scones. Great fuel for the Dodd Trek before and after

Great little cafe. Good selection of hot and cold meals and cakes all well priced so dont be put off because of the location. Plenty of outside seating with the current social distancing. Will be stopping here when passing in the future. Some good walks from here all marked out so good for all levels of fitness.

Lovely little spot. Good food delivered quickly. Portions generous. Toilets spotless. The car park is expensive but that because it is run by the forestry commission and pays for the upkeep of the walking trails so don't hold this against the cafe!

This is a hidden gem of the Lake District. This is a lovely cafe with a car park (make sure you've got change). Free toilets. You have some really nice walks from here and you can eeven walk up Skiddaw from her..If you just want a short you can walk up dod.. or just walk and want to see the osprey view point. there's some great views to be had. RSPB often set up telescopes during the osprey season.
