Friendly welcome, plenty of space to sit in pub. Great selection of drinks. Didn’t appear to do food.

Very friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and has a lovely fire going which is very welcome after a long day on the hills. Will be visiting again😊

Had a lovely couple of lager shandies to rehydrate after a challenging walk up (and scramble down) Blencathra. The other pub was rammed as they were doing food but we just wanted drinks which worked out well as they aren't up and running with food yet. It looks like they've had a lot of work done to it and is really nice. The beer terrace is great.

Nice local\tradational pub at the foot of Blencathra. Stopped with some work colleagues for a couple of drinks whilst working close by. Good service and recent refurb has given the place a clean tidy area. Plenty outside tables of the weather is good!

Me and my mum stayed here for two nights when visiting Thelkeld. The staff were lovely and attentive, views from the room of Blencathra were stunning and the room itself was cozy and comfortable. Fantastic food and service at the adjacent pub the ‘Horse and Farrier’. Would 100% stay here again. Great location for a multitude of activities too.Perfect stay, thank you again.

Visited the pub for an evening meal.Once we were seated, we were told that they didn't serve meals here.If that is the case, the 'good food' sign on the front is a bit misleading.Overall a confusing experience and a bit of a letdown.There was a menu outside on the wall which was for a different place in town?Otherwise, pricing was fair and they had some snacks and a hot food counter (pies, sausage rolls) so I didn't go completely hungry.

Rude unwelcoming barmaid who openly chatted disparagingly about " city types" visiting the pub ie her customers...maybe thats why the bar was empty with no atmosphere? As it happens our party were from a tiny village in the countryside. All it takes is a welcome and a smile, wouldn't recommend this place.

Came across this place by chance because the pub over the road was fully booked. It must of been fate because it was welcoming the staff were extremely friendly and although the bar maid was working the bar and the food, she was relaxed and still smiling. Dog friendly and the food was resonably priced and very good. Highly recommended

Stopped here for a well earned drink after a walk up Blencathra. Quite a nice little pub with a car park and seating outside. Just a shame the bar staff were lacking in the ways of customer service. Beer was good and went down a treat
