The Ship Pub and Dining in Allerdale

We stayed here for 2 days and just went to pub for brunch , We tried lasagna and it was superb, staffs were very polite they know their jobs.

Our first visit after my partner wanting to visit for a while. Very easy to locate and in a beautiful area with some great views.Absolutely stunning building with great atmosphere. The staff were absolutely brilliant and catered well for our fussy child. Nothing was a problem and they were all really friendly.The food was absolutely amazing and we didn't have to wait long before we were eating. Everything on our plates tasted amazing! Home made chips were an added bonus too.We had desert which again was fantastic. And to top it off the bill was less that we thought also great value for money in a great location.We will definitely be returning.

Excellent. Although busy we didn't wait long for our food and was piping hot. Staff very pleasant and regularly asked if we needed drinks. Definitely recommend a visit and we'll definitely be back

The service was great but the food was awful. We only ordered baguettes and they were rock hard, in fact they were impossible to eat. To go with our food, I tried the only ale they had on tap. I’m afraid this wasn’t up to scratch either, with a very distinctive taste of homebrew about it.

The service was ok, the food was ok with a good size portions, in fact we would have had pudding if we could fit it in! Price was ok. I would add the beef was nice!

As usual 5 stars for The Dovenby Ship.Every time we come to the Lakes a visit to the above is a must. It's out of the way from where we stay on holiday but well worth the journey.We have never been disappointed.Service is first class and the food is excellent.Looking forward to visiting again soon.

Came on a Saturday afternoon, no delay in taking orders for drinks or food, both came quickly. Great lump of steak pie, loads of lovely homemade chips, excellent gravy....veg was a bit over but I'm being picky. All staff we encountered were spot on, we had a good feed, can't ask for more really 👍
