Yin yang report. Kitchen staff and food were excellent. Bar staff must have been on the first day and unsupervised.

First visit a few weeks ago for Sunday lunch. I chose pork as my meat and it didn’t disappoint! You get a generous portion of meat and the roast potatoes in particular were delicious - very crispy! I would definitely go back and try their other food during the week.

A busy little pub serving a hamlet which has two campsites, one attached and another 10 minutes walk away.A nice drink one night and then returned two nights later for a meal. The same member of staff, clearly in a management role along with two very young people in support. When eating at the pub the staff were lead fantastically well in a very busy environment where clearly training and mentoring were taking place at the same time.Food came out and it was excellent, we had belly pork and also lamb accompanied by proper chips, leek mash and fresh veg - in short very good indeed.Staff also coped with 17 covers in all at the same time as well as the rest of the pub.Message to owner - your staff were brilliant coping with both the running of the pub and adjacent camp site - but they need more help, and a raise!

Called in, not booked and a bit early. Impressed from the start. Dog friendly. Staff member on her own handling drinks, campsite calls, bookings & enquiries calmly efficiently, New member of staff arrived in the midst. She deserves a medal, calm, smiling and so very capable under immense pressure. Food was super, portions enormous, my bacon steaks with black pudding + veg + mash would have fed 2 & we were very hungry having missed lunch. Not sure how anyone eats desserts.

Great find. Went for a family meal last night and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food - Cumberland sausage, beef pie and pork belly. Good range of drinks on the bar, nice atmosphere. Staff did well despite it being busy with a large group in. Thanks all!

Good location, nice, cosy place. Staff are kind and helpful, attentive. There is a small car parking behind. Bar with a lot of drink, food is very nice, tasteful and delicious and big amount- we ate for starter filled jalapeno (spicy but not too spicy, tasted well, dressing was nice too and the salad was fresh), after roasted turkey, was with gravy, yorkshire puding, crunchy kale (tasted very well), broccoli and mash. Everything seemed fresh, and fresh cooked. Service was very good, i could ask "children portion", and was enough. My partner had full portion, that was a lot. Worth every penny. I am sure we go back soon. I recommend this place. We went there after walking- so about 5pm, was plenty of table that time, and the food arrived quickly. Sorry no photo before, i was too hungry. 😁

The staff on Sunday were woeful. On his phone for the whole shift, refused to serve me a pizza. Rude to the face, violently threatened me to leave when I politely asked for food. Once served food it was drier then the table which hadn't been waxed. The plate was almost as dirty as swallow barn. The cutlery matched the bluntness of your staff. I was served lightly salted water, vile. In the corner by the bar I saw a rat tatatating. The table was also wobbly despite sticking the blunt spoon under it as I wasn't staying for longer then I had to. I was then abruptly and brutally asked for a tip to which I refused. Then they laughed at my friend of colour simply because he was left unattended in the oven. Will not be visiting this place again.Unkind Regards,Unhappy customer.

Lovely food, ate here twice whilst staying in the village. Sunday lunch brilliant, Thursday evening service a bit slow but food brilliant again.

Hard to miss, (was a) mustard coloured pub, along the B5289, with splendid meals and local ales, and a large gin selection. Pleasant, pale green-blue tones accent the decor, plus soft lighting, with wooden tables and chairs spread across two sections, separated by the wood fire crackling away along a wall. The pub almost juts into the street, and a pretty river burbles along the other side of the road. Beer and food is sourced locally with a daily specials board ranging from about £12-19, plus gluten free options. My wife had an unctuous lamb shank on mash, smothered in Cumberland sauce, with a side of veg. I plumped for the 10oz sirloin steak loaded with fried mushrooms and onions, topped with Camembert, and including proper chips and a side salad; a mixture of greens, diced peppers, red onion, and nicely dressed with a balsamic glaze. Above average pub food, which was absolutely delicious, presented well, and went down nicely with their own Yan for the Hill ale.Service was good, and staff were friendly and welcoming; [they let us in early due to pelting rain] and overall, the pub has a cozy feel and little details are done well. Tends to fill up in summer, so you may need to book for meals. Free parking is located behind the pub, as is the beer garden. Look out for the beer festivals. Owners offer a range of nearby accommodations.

Visited here with the whole family and had great experience, all the food was delicious, freshly prepared and presented beautifully. All the staff were wonderful, friendly and accommodating. Good choice of specials and soup of the day available, the interior was super clean and cosy, log fire burning away quietly in the background was bliss, noticed there was a good outdoor terrace and benches if it was a sunny day, would be a perfect post walk stop off. Would highly recommend and surely be returning.
