Just been charged £11 for two of the tiniest portions of carrot cake I’ve ever seen.. a cup of hot water and a tea .. absolutely terrible. I know things have gone up but this was an utter rip off

The best luxury hot chocolate EVER!Pure heaven! 😍The eggs Royale is lush here, too!

Waited nearly an hour to be served a ridiculously salty meal, I couldn't eat, had to pass to my husband after 3spoonfuls who agreed it was exceptionally salty. Then afterwards the till staff downstairs asked how it was, I told him and he just said no, our recipe doesn't have much salt, looked at me like I was mental. Basically refused to believe that it could possibly have been salty, even though he wasn't in the restaurant or kitchen. The food was literally as if someone dropped a bag of salt in it. Id already paid so wasn't angling after a freebie, we left, couldn't be bothered arguing. Unsure how he thought someone could be confused about salt? Maybe he thought I'd never food before 🤣Kids liked it.

What a great shop/cafe. Our friends introduced us and the reasoning was clear. The food was really nice and the service matched. Very attentive. We bought some chocolate on the way out and have yet to taste but it looks incredible

Staff were superb food very nice and competitive prices.. Cafe is up a small set of stairs but the shop downstairs attached.... Oh boy never seen so many chocolate things in one place to buy... Took a sneaky six homemade bars home with us before we left😁!

This is the 2nd time I have visited The Chocolate Cafe and was extremely disappointed! Our party of 3 arrived to allow plenty of time to eat before they closed - or so we thought! There was a queue of people waiting to be seated when we arrived so we had a short wait. We had another wait before our waitress came and asked whether we had ordered. We gave her our order and about 10 minutes later she returned to tell us none of the items we had ordered were available. We gave her another order. We then had an extremely long wait and were about to question where our food was when the waitress returned and informed us our order had not gone through, she didn't know why and offered us a round of drinks to compensate (we had almost finished our drinks as we had been waiting so long). Obviously we then had yet another wait for our food to arrive. I ordered tuna, onion and cheese ciabatta, which although it tasted very nice, was only luke warm. Ham sandwich was lovely as was the bacon barm. When we had eaten we asked the waitress if we could order dessert and she informed us they had taken last order so no, we couldn't! I was NOT very happy about this. We had not been informed when they were taking last orders, otherwise we would have ordered our deserts then and it was the staff's fault that it was so late when we finished eating our mains. Not impressed! As replied to below, I was offered a full refund after posting this review on their Facebook page and being given the excuse that their staff were rusty after 6 months off due to covid - seems to be the go to excuse for bad service these days. I received a message off Google asking me to post a review - so I did. As for staff being upset - I was upset by the way they treated my friends and I. Considering the expensive prices they charge I would expect better and if they can afford to turn down orders due to their own staffs' failings then things haven't been that hard.
