Called on spec for a Tuesday lunch, table found for us in the conservatory area by very pleasant staff. There's a fixed priced lunch on offer with great choices food cooked to order and definitely not for those in a hurryEnjoy the excellent food with spectacular views over the moors '

We used to love this place, but our last couple of visits have been disappointing, the amount of dishes not available from the menus seems to be growing or we are just unlucky, some of the food is delicious and then other parts are like a cheap pub, which this place is not. They have stopped serving strongbow which was the final straw for us, they don’t serve regular coke, but Pepsi max, do you not think as adults we can make our own decisions about sugar intake. My lad ordered a whisky and from his first sip he said it tasted watered down, fair enough they took it off the bill. The server took out order, didn’t write anything down and it came out wrong, I was going to raise it but the wife was about to explode in anger, that’s how bad this place has become.Unfortunately this is one place I can’t justify making the trip to anymore, so off to find another place to eat.

Great food, great service, not the cheapest place to eat. Stunning views. Lovely place.

Fantastic, helpful and very friendly staff, perfect place for a celebration meal. The food was lovely. Highly recommended 👌 but you need to book as its very busy probably because of the previously mentioned.

Lovely food and reasonably priced. Service can be a tad slow on very busy days however is understandable. We were happy to wait as we and soak up the experience as we had all afternoon so it was not a problem and the food was worth the wait. Will deffo be back and highly recommend it to anyone else.

Been twice.First time everything was perfect.Second time I went for their roast. Not impressed at all.Got the duo , so you would expect half beef half turkey.Plate had mostly turkey and the tiniest and worst cut from the roast beef you could get.Half of the beef slice was fat and burnt end of it.So from the tiny beef slice only half of it was edible. Will not be coming back.

Food excellent! The cheese and onion pie! Wow... Just like mum used to make at home. Proper chips! Traditional puds. Or if you want to go a bit fancy then they cater for that too. Lovely wine choice and beers/ales. I knew the pack horse in the 'old days' (now I feel old 🙄). On this recent revisit to Bury after 20 years of being away, we sat in the original part of the pub where the large open fire has been replaced with a Woodburning stove. The ambience is still there.. Totally unspoilt.. The old pub has been lovingly and sympathetically restored, coaxed into the 21st century. Well with a visit. Definitely be back again. X

Just had a delicious Duo Sunday roast at this beautiful country pub which was built in 1442. Gorgeous, cosy interiors, thick, stone walls and friendly, efficient service. Would highly recommend this place. Stunning views across towards Holcombe Hill, Peel Tower and beyond from the outdoor seating area too.

Amazing food and drink as always! Such a welcoming pub. All of the staff went above and beyond. Service was very quick. Our waitress Emily was a credit to your team. We had party members arriving at different times and she was very helpful making sure the food arrived on time and hadn't gone cold. We really appreciated her work. Thank you so much.
