"A small, country-inn just 5 miles from Carlisle. We serve ever-changing real ales in front of a roaring fire, along with our delicious home-cooked food. Home to our delicious Dog House menu; a tasty selection of ‘beer-inspired’ sausages and loaded fries. And now our Beer Tapas Menu; perfect to pair with a pint of your favourite beer! A perfect spot to escape the city centre, in a cosy socially- distanced setting! Food served: Wed, Thurs & Fri: 12-2 & 5-8pm Saturday & Sunday: 12-7:30pm"

We were looking for a dog friendly place to stop for lunch and spotted the Drovers Rest online. Highly recommend- we all had one of their speciality hot dogs. They were like no hot dogs we've ever had before. Fresh from smoker with clever and tasty toppings. Delicious!! Puds were great too and the owners couldn't have been friendlier. Definitely recommend.

I have not been in the Drovers for many years. What a super surprise when we were shown into the dining room and saw the menu..I was expecting something better than pub grub but I did not expect the choice of high quality foods on offer.I opted for venison . Which was delicious, cooked to.perfection. starters a sweets were excellent too.If you want (what I call really good cheffy food) you must give this place a try.The slight downsides were it was a little bit cool in the dining room when we arrived, and the bad language coming from the domino players as we left.. ( just the luck on the night I guess)Well done Drovers Rest team I shall return.

Decent little find on our way home from holidays. Good food, great service. Some interesting hot dog options which are worth a try. Good ale selection. Could benefit from a lunch menu (sandwiches etc) thought I saw one online but wasn’t an option on arrival. Dog friendly. Would recommend

Really happy with our first, though I expect not our last visit, to the Drovers Rest. We were following the recommendation of a local resident who said people were raving about the food.We rang ahead to book a table and were encouraged by the helpful information we got about GF options - this is a place you can trust to safely offer a range of options. On arrival, we were warmly welcomed and given a full run down of the menu. We chose to sit outside on a sunny day. Drinks and food orders were taken quickly.Everyone enjoyed their food. We had: two hotdogs, a jumbo fish finger and chips, and a portion of Venezuelan loaded fries. Everything was delicious. We then ordered a blondie and some ice cream and sorbet for pudding, again everything was lovely. We'd definitely recommend the Drovers Rest and will be back on our next visit to the area.

We stopped here on the off chance on our way back down from Scotland and we were very glad we did. Very authentic local with great ales, friendly young staff and simply great food. It’s kinda weird when you say the steak arabica you had was probably one of the best ever after eating hundreds of the things in your life, but this really was standout fantastic. My wife’s pork was also wonderful and the prices very reasonable. The new landlord chef and his wife are running the kitchen and they are doing a wicked job. If I lived locally this would be my go to boozer without question.Get there soon or otherwise you won’t be able to get a table with food this good!!P.S. Thanks for letting us stay over in our camper van in your car park!
