Happened upon this gem whilst walking part of Hadrian's wall. I was so happy they had gluten free cake! I had the carrot gluten free and it was delicious. Coffee really good too. Lovely

Lovely cakes and drinks after a sunny walk along the wall and back. Very reasonably priced. Service was excellent. Most definitely will return.

Lovely little cafe. Parking out front, warm fire inside. We all had great sandwiches and paninis. Good selection of fillings, we had: brie & cranberry, coronation chicken, ham & cheese. Definitely no scrimping with the fillings! Staff were friendly, cafe was clean, and service was quick.

We came in dripping wet and cold from walking the path a few weeks ago and they were so kind and let us sit by the fire to try and dry our clothes while we enjoyed hot drinks and scones. The baked goods were amazing and the staff delightful, we’d highly recommend a stop!

Stopped for a drink at this lovely little coffee shop. Great character and decor, and very comfortable, we had a very nice 30 mins or so scoffing a homemade scone / jam washed down with a really good coffee. We were lucky to happen across this place and will call in again if we’re in the area. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Lovely little tea room, a great place for cyclist and walkers doing hadrians wall. Good food with gf options. Owner very friendly with good local knowledge. Excellent vfm and covid safe with outdoor tables.

Lovely friendly cafe. Cosy seats and nice hot fire to sit around. Various cakes and drinks but also a lovely full English breakfast. They also sell ice cream and cold drinks together with various groceries.

53 miles cycling through the not so gently rolling scenery of Hadrians Wall country builds up a bit of an appetite so when it comes to the obligatory cafe stop you need a filling meal. The House of Meg certainly ticked the right box on that score. Feeling the need to fill up on carbs I opted for baked potato and chose a baked beans and cheese topping. I certainly wasn't disappointed with the quantity and quality. Thankfully it wasn't too filling so I still had enough of an appetite to enjoy a slice of scrumptious caramel shortbread. As it was such a lovely day we chose to sit outside but I did have a peak in the indoor eating area which looked clean and cosy. Of course the other important thing is the standard of service. The staff at House of Meg are friendly, efficient and accommodating, they also appreciated my compliment on the quality of that caramel shortbread. The only criticism I have is that, at 53 miles from home, I'll not be able to visit on a regular basis but somehow I think I'll make a return visit. I guess it's not too far from the A69 if I'm driving across to Cumbria
